Job Description BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. Strengthening Families, Empowering Futures - The BronxWorks Family Enrichment Program partners with families in the South Bronx to create safer, more nurturing home environments. Our goal is to help families thrive—together. RESPONSIBILITIES • The Family Advocate will be responsible for engaging families and community members by through efforts within the community, local schools, development, and community boards to build relationships with families and community members, • The Family Advocate through their engagement with community members will connect families and community members to supports and resources that provide concrete services., • The Family Advocate will be responsible for the planning and coordination of 12 monthly offerings by planning and co-designing inclusive, culturally responsive activities and events with community members., • The Family Advocate is responsible for gathering and analyzing community feedback, needs, and strengths to enhancing programming at the FEC., • The Family Advocate will support the day-to-day FEC operations including but not limited to programming, outreach efforts/events, and offerings., • The Family Advocate will follow-up with past engaged community members to promote activities and events for participation., • The Family Advocate will partner with the Community Liaison, Advisory Council/PAC, and community stakeholders to codesign programming and activities at the FEC., • The Family Advocate will participate in community meetings, events, and outreach activities., • The Family Advocate will participate in all required trainings offered by BronxWorks and ACS., • Plan and host four Parent Café’s within the fiscal year., • Submit monthly reports to Program Director., • Perform additional duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required • Bachelor’s degree ANDthree (3) years of professional experience;, • OR High school diploma AND five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven programs with children, youth, and families., • Available to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed., • Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills are necessary., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required., • Maintain an up-to-date status of completion with all required trainings set by funder and provider agency., • Family Advocate is responsible for completing and receiving certification of the following trainings within the first year of hire:, • Protective Factors, • Appreciative Inquiry, • Parent & Vitality Cafes, • Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), • Understanding and Undoing Implicit Bias, • Mental Health First Aid, • Motivational Interviewing Preferred • Knowledge of, lived experience in, and commitment to the FEC community., • Outstanding people/interpersonal, collaboration, community organizing, and advocacy skills., • Experience caring for children (as a parent, guardian, relative, neighbor, or babysitter)., • Family Development Credential (FDC) is preferred within one year of hire., • Valid NYS issued Driver's License., • Bilingual. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods., • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time., • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork., • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents., • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation., • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
