Job Description Our client runs a highly automated commercial bakery with a full industrial ammonia refrigeration system and a complete suite of utility equipment. This technician owns the safe operation, daily monitoring, and long-term reliability of those systems. We know how hard it is to find someone with this skill set, and we take that seriously in how we compensate, support, and develop this person. This is not a role for someone still finding their footing. We are looking for a seasoned industrial refrigeration technician who knows ammonia systems from the compressor room to the PSM binder. Someone who can operate independently, train and mentor others, and be counted on when it matters most. Bounus: $5,000 just for coming on board and staying where you will love to work and grow! Schedule Night Shift: 5pm to 5am Certs RETA / CIRO Strongly Preferred WHAT YOU WILL DO You will be the primary owner of the plant's utility infrastructure. That includes keeping systems running, training your teammates on safe operation, and ensuring full compliance with PSM, IIAR, OSHA, EPA, and all applicable codes. On any given shift you may be: • Monitoring and maintaining the industrial ammonia refrigeration system, including multi-stage compression, liquid recirculation, evaporative condensers, room cooling evaporators, and screw compressors., • Analyzing system performance data and trending indicators to determine when maintenance frequency needs to increase before a problem develops., • Maintaining and operating plant utilities including boilers, water treatment systems, cooling towers, pumps, NH3 and compressed air compressors, HVAC systems, air dryers, freezers, chillers, and distribution systems., • Providing routine and corrective maintenance on rapid roll-up doors, dock doors, levelers, hot water generating equipment, and both potable and non-potable water systems, as well as supporting structural and plumbing upkeep., • Supporting and maintaining the PSM program documentation and ensuring full compliance with PSM and EPA RMP requirements., • Serving as an active member of the facility's Emergency Response Team., • Training maintenance technicians on the safe operation of refrigeration systems. You are a resource and a teacher, not just a technician., • Documenting all contractor activity associated with the refrigeration system., • Interpreting piping and instrumentation drawings and applying that knowledge to troubleshooting and repair., • Contributing your expertise to continuous improvement projects and cross-department safety initiatives as a valued member of the maintenance team. WHAT YOU BRING • A minimum of five years of hands-on operating experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. This is a firm requirement for this role., • Demonstrated experience with multi-stage compression, liquid recirculation systems, screw compressors, evaporative condensers, and room cooling evaporators., • The ability to interpret and work from piping and instrumentation drawings (P and IDs)., • Strong working knowledge of complex electrical control systems, including GES or Frick platforms., • Solid understanding of IIAR safety standards for ammonia systems. You can explain the physics of the refrigeration cycle clearly and comfortably., • Experience with boiler operations and inspections, facilities plumbing and pipefitting, and air compressor and dryer maintenance., • Familiarity with lockout/tagout programs, PPE requirements, and hazardous communications standards., • RETA and CIRO certification is strongly preferred and will be reflected in compensation. If you are working toward these certifications, tell us where you are in the process., • A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate degree in HVACR, refrigeration, or electrical, or a trade school certification, is strongly preferred., • Excellent communication and coaching skills. You will regularly interact with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams, and you will be a go-to resource for the people around you., • Self-directed and organized. You manage your priorities, document your work, and do not need to be chased for follow-through. WHAT WE OFFER • $30.00 to $45.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and certifications.
