Job Description Job Title: Facilities Technician Reports to: Facilities Manager Salary/Hourly: Hourly Pay Range: $36.00 Hour - $42.00 Hour Shift: Nights 5pm – 5am (2-2-3 rotation) Bonus: $5000 sign on bonus Summary CraftMark Bakery is seeking a Facilities Technician to join its growing team at a modern, highly automated commercial bakery. Key responsibilities include: • Maintain and monitor ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems., • Operate and repair boilers, HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, air dryers, and freezers., • Maintain water treatment, potable/non-potable water, sanitary, and stormwater systems., • Repair and maintain rapid roll-up doors, hot water systems, and building infrastructure, including the roof., • Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments., • Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance with IIAR, ASHRE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, and applicable state and local regulations., • Demonstrate strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, especially in ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance. Ideal candidate: • Experienced with industrial utility systems, particularly ammonia refrigeration (NH₃)., • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills., • Familiar with industrial safety standards and regulatory compliance. Primary Activities: • Working and considering Safety as a primary responsibility, • Ensure that assigned machinery runs without issue, • Complete assigned PM's, • Monitor the performance of the ammonia refrigeration system, • Analyze system data and trending data to determine the need for increased maintenance frequencies, • Document Contractor activity as it pertains to the refrigeration system Support the maintaining of the PSM Program, • Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team, • Provide training to the Maintenance Technicians on the operation of the Refrigeration System, • Other Duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Summary The ideal Refrigeration Technician candidate should have: • Strong hands-on experience with ammonia refrigeration (NH₃) systems., • Excellent communication, teamwork, and coaching abilities., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., • Proficiency with computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing., • In-depth technical knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance processes, and plant systems., • A self-motivated, results-driven work ethic with strong interpersonal skills., • Solid understanding of maintenance and reliability principles to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime. Requirements Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience operating and maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Required qualifications include: • High School diploma or GED, • Associates Degree in HVACR, Refrigeration/Electrical, RETAA or CIRO certificates, Trade School Certification, or equivalent is strongly preferred, • Experience with multi-stage ammonia compression systems., • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical control systems (such as GEA or Frick controls)., • Knowledge of liquid recirculation systems., • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)., • Experience with screw compressors, evaporative condensers, and room cooling evaporators., • Understanding of IIAR ammonia refrigeration safety standards., • Experience with boiler operations and inspections., • Skills in facility plumbing and pipefitting., • Maintenance experience with air compressors, air dryers, rapid roll-up doors, and dock doors/levelers., • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Hazard Communication (HazCom) requirements., • Ability to understand and explain the physics of the refrigeration cycle.
