Job Description Our organization is excited to announce an opening for a Vice Chairperson in Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. This department operates across two facilities, Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx (NCB), both of which are integral parts of the largest public health system in the nation, serving a diverse population in the Bronx and lower Westchester County. The faculty encompasses all OBGYN specialties, including Maternal Fetal Medicine, Genetics, Gynecologic Oncology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology. Our focus is on providing exceptional care to our patients. We utilize multidisciplinary simulations, team huddles, and debriefs to enhance collaboration and standardize care, continually refining our processes. Our faculty is relatively young and enthusiastic about academic development, working closely with nurses, midwives, and physician assistants to ensure the highest quality of care in a safety net environment. Position Overview: Assist the Chair in managing daily operations and overseeing clinical functions within the department, as well as fostering relationships with other services. • Clinical Responsibilities:, • 60% of your role will be dedicated to clinical duties., • Clinical responsibilities will be assigned based on the candidate's expertise and may involve various OBGYN areas such as outpatient care, inpatient services, labor and delivery, and/or gynecologic surgery., • Tasks will include mentoring attendings, teaching residents and medical students, and collaborating with midwives, physician assistants, and other mid-level providers., • Monthly in-house call coverage will be required., • Backup call may be necessary based on clinical expertise., • Academic Responsibilities:, • Encourage scholarly activities among faculty and trainees., • Oversee the quality, substance, review, and evaluation of all research initiatives within the department., • Develop and manage continuing medical education programs for staff at all levels., • Administrative Responsibilities:, • Foster a culture of open communication among all staff, promote healthy team dynamics, and create pathways to support staff wellness., • Encourage diversity and inclusion within the department, addressing inequities and promoting awareness and acceptance., • Ensure faculty meet performance expectations and customer service standards., • Establish, implement, and maintain clear objectives for OBGYN services aimed at clinical improvement, growth, and service expansion., • Communication and Change Management Responsibilities:, • Develop effective communication channels with physicians, nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, and administration to build trust and collaborative relationships, prioritizing patient access to resources., • Encourage open, non-judgmental dialogue, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusiveness, welcoming constructive feedback, and promoting accountability., • Mentor and develop team members to enhance internal capabilities and facilitate succession planning.Qualifications, • Board Certification in General Obstetrics and Gynecology or an OBGYN Sub-Specialty., • A minimum of 8 years of clinical and administrative experience post-residency., • A proven history of clinical and academic achievements., • Experience in an academic role that combines clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities., • Familiarity with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards for residency education., • Willingness and ability to cover in-house OBGYN service calls., • Active involvement in faculty recruitment, selection, and mentorship., • Demonstrated leadership, management, and team-building skills., • Experience in leading quality and process improvement initiatives in healthcare settings. Annual Base Salary: $358,955*, based on a 40-hour work week.
