In this role, you will provide essential grooming and beauty services—including hair styling, basic manicures, and skin care—to our elderly participants. Your goal is to not only help our seniors look their best but also to boost their self-esteem, provide a therapeutic and relaxing experience, and bring joy to their daily routine.Key ResponsibilitiesHair Care Services: Provide safe and comfortable hair services including washing, cutting, setting, rollers, blow-drying, and styling tailored to senior preferences and hair types.Nail & Skin Care: Perform basic, non-medical manicures (nail shaping, cuticle care, light hand massage, and polishing) and gentle facial grooming/skin care.Client Safety & Comfort: Adapt techniques to accommodate clients with limited mobility, arthritis, or cognitive differences (such as dementia or Alzheimer's). Ensure safe transfers to and from the styling chair.Sanitation & Compliance: Maintain a spotlessly clean, sanitized, and organized salon station. Strictly adhere to state cosmetology board regulations and facility health and safety protocols.Social Engagement: Build warm, trusting relationships with participants. Act as an active listener, offering a friendly and uplifting environment during their services.Collaboration: Coordinate scheduling with the program director and activities team to ensure services fit smoothly into the daily activities calendar.Qualifications & SkillsLicense: Active and valid State Board of Cosmetology license (New York).Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a practicing cosmetologist. Experience working with seniors or in a healthcare/daycare setting is highly preferred.Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely assist seniors with minor mobility adjustments.Key Soft Skills: Exceptional patience, empathy, and strong communication skills. A warm, upbeat personality that resonates well with older adults.
