General Description Summary The ideal candidate will be located in the Houston or San Antonio Texas areas. This position will require travel to all of Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida The Regional Service Technician I supports Perimeter Solutions fixed and portable retardant bases by providing hands-on technical, mechanical, and construction support across an assigned region. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of retardant mixing systems, plumbing infrastructure, and associated equipment at airtanker bases. Working closely with Regional Managers and Base Managers, this position plays a critical role in ensuring operational readiness, safety, and reliability of all retardant systems. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, general construction skills, and working knowledge of industrial plumbing systems, including Victaulic piping, welded pipe, flanged connections, valves, and flow dynamics. Extensive travel is required to support field operations, base upgrades, and emergency response activities. 75% travel. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include (not in any priority): Field Operations & Mechanical Support • Install, maintain, and repair retardant mixing systems, pumps, valves, and associated equipment, • Perform hands-on fieldwork supporting base construction, upgrades, and system improvements, • Troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, and operational issues under field conditions, • Install and maintain Victaulic piping systems, welded pipe, and flanged connections, • Perform layout, assembly, and modification of piping systems for fluid transfer operations, • Install and service valves, actuators, and flow control components, • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, and mixing equipment, • Assist with equipment winterization, inspections, and lifecycle maintenance, • Support general construction activities at airtanker bases, including site prep, equipment setting, and system installation, • Read and interpret basic drawings, layouts, and schematics, • Follow all EH&S policies, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and site-specific safety requirements, • Participate in required training and maintain certifications, • Travel extensively (up to 75% or more) to support multiple bases within the region, • Assist with maintaining operational readiness of retardant systems during peak fire season, • Work closely with the Engineering Department, Regional Managers, and crews to support operations, • Communicate field issues, repair status, and system needs clearly and effectively, • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, safety, and efficiency Benefits: Perimeter Solutions offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Requirements: Required Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • High school diploma or equivalent, • 2+ years of experience in mechanical, construction, or industrial field service roles, • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills, • Experience with industrial plumbing systems (Victaulic, welded pipe, flanged connections, valves), • Basic understanding of pumps, flow systems, and fluid handling equipment, • Experience in fire retardant operations, airtanker bases, or similar industrial environments (like fire sprinkler system), • Equipment operation experience (forklift, skid steer, etc.), • Valid driver’s license (CDL Class A a huge plus), • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills, • Ability to work independently in remote or high-pressure environments, • Good communication and teamwork abilities, • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks in the field, • Basic computer skills (email, reporting, documentation) Work Environment & Physical Demands This position is highly field-oriented and requires working in demanding and dynamic environments. Requirements include: • Frequent travel by vehicle and air, often on short notice, • Long workdays, especially during fire season, • Lifting 24–55 lbs. regularly and assisting with lifts up to 100+ lbs., • Handling hoses, piping, and mechanical components in rugged terrain, • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces, • Exposure to extreme weather conditions and temperatures, • Work around heavy equipment, aircraft operations, and active fire environments The physical and environmental conditions described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role.
