Job Description The Behavioral Health Services Manager is a senior clinical and operational leader within St. John’s Community Health’s Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Department. This role is responsible for the strategic oversight, day-to-day management, and continued growth of behavioral health services across an expanding network of clinic sites, school-based programs, and community settings including the new Compton Wellness Center. The Manager leads a multidisciplinary team of 20+ providers — including ACSWs, LCSWs, AMFTs, LMFTs, Psychologists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Recovery Specialists, and Case Managers and is instrumental in building team capacity, ensuring clinical quality, and driving the expansion of integrated care services across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. This role works in close partnership with the Chief Behavioral Health Officer and collaborates across internal departments and with external county agencies (e.g., DCFS, DMH, LAHS formerly DHS, and DPSS) as well as managed care organizations, grant-funded programs, and community partners to advance the mission of health equity and whole-person care. Benefits: • Free Medical, Dental & Vision, • 13 Paid Holidays + PTO, • 403 (B) retirement match, • Life Insurance, EAP, • Tuition Reimbursement, • Flexible Spending Account, • Continued workforce development & training Education: (Required) • Minimum of four (4) years of post-licensure clinical experience in Integrated Behavioral Health, Specialty Mental Health, and/or Brief Therapy models., • Demonstrated experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams in a community health or federally qualified health center (FQHC) setting., • Proven experience managing or overseeing program growth, including new site development or service expansion., • Experience with grant management, reporting, and compliance., • Knowledge of and experience working with multi-ethnic, underserved, and historically marginalized communities., • Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred., • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, particularly eClinicalWorks or similar platforms. Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties: Team Leadership & Workforce Development • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance management for a growing multidisciplinary IBH team of 20+ providers, including ACSWs, LCSWs, AMFTs, LMFTs, Psychologists, Psychiatric NPs, Psychiatrists, Recovery Specialists, and Case Managers., • Lead clinical supervision for interns and unlicensed associates, ensuring compliance with licensing board requirements and clinical standards., • Lead robust onboarding processes that integrate new hires into team culture, workflows, and site-specific expectations across multiple clinic locations., • Conduct regular staff meetings, individual check-ins, and annual performance appraisals to foster accountability, trust, and professional development., • Support and advance remote and hybrid scheduling initiatives for clinical staff, including Saturday coverage, by collecting and presenting data to leadership to formalize sustainable staffing models., • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of evidence-based mental health and substance use disorder treatment services across clinic sites, school-based centers, and community programs., • Maintain an active clinical caseload at 0.40 FTE, modeling direct patient care and clinical excellence., • Implement and monitor crisis response and clinical risk management protocols, including safety planning, incident reporting, and high-risk case review processes., • Refer patients to appropriate team members as needed; develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans., • Oversee behavioral health productivity metrics — including completed appointments, panel size, no-show rates, and clinical quality indicators — and implement data-driven improvements., • Support the Chief Behavioral Health Officer in strategic planning and program expansion, including the buildout and operational launch of the Compton Wellness Center., • Lead the integration of behavioral health services at new and existing sites, ensuring readiness and alignment with SJCH’s care delivery model., • Develop and facilitate Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to coordinate care across clinical, social, and community-based services., • Manage grant deliverables, reports, and compliance requirements for behavioral health funding streams., • Participate in the review of grant applications and assess suitability, alignment with program capacity, and financial sustainability., • Ensure compliance with HRSA, Medi-Cal Managed Care, and DMH documentation and reporting requirements, including UDS metrics and audit readiness., • Monitor clinical documentation standards and support staff in meeting regulatory requirements across electronic health record systems., • Build and maintain strong working relationships with county agencies including DCFS, DMH, DHS, and DPSS, as well as managed care organizations and community partners., • Serve as a liaison between the IBH department and other SJCH departments, executive leadership, and external stakeholders., • Attend required in-service training and professional development activities to support IBH programs and contracts., • Travel between Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside County sites as required; availability for evening and weekend activities as needed.
