ORGANIZATION HISTORY AND MISSION The MinKwon Center for Community Action is a dynamic, mission-driven, and people-powered nonprofit organization that serves, educates, and organizes the Korean American, Asian Pacific American (APA), and immigrant communities in New York and around the country. JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as an Immigration Staff Attorney. MinKwon’s Social and Legal Services Program provides direct services to over 2,500 low-income households annually. This position is housed in our Immigration Legal Services program and requires a J.D. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: • Conduct comprehensive immigration screenings, intakes, and case assessments., • Provide information about eligible immigration benefits, assist clients with gathering documents, and complete immigration applications & petitions., • Provide direct representation and legal advice to clients in cases including but not limited to naturalizations, green card renewals, adjustment of status, SIJS, VAWA, TPS, U and T visas, cancellation of removal, family based petitions, DACA renewals, and inadmissibility waivers., • Process immigration-related correspondence and manage routine client communications., • Maintain detailed and up-to-date notes in case management system, and in physical and electronic files., • Prepare and conduct community outreach and educational workshops., • Work with MinKwon’s development staff on immigration grants deliverables and reporting., • General administrative and clerical duties. MinKwon Center’s Staff Attorney will provide free legal consultations and direct representation on immigration matters to primarily low-income Asian immigrant communities in New York City. Job Description Position: Group Leader Reports to: Executive Director Hours: 15–20 hours/week, varies Monday–Friday (2:00–6:00 PM or 3:00–6:00 PM) The Group Leader is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all activities for an assigned group in the after-school program. This position ensures safety standards are upheld at all times, follows and enforces Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and ACT policies, and provides exceptional customer service to participants and their families. Organization History & Mission MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community. Working in close collaboration with the Medical Director and multidisciplinary teams, the PMHNP supports integrated trauma-informed care for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health needs. RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including history and mental status examinations, for residential and outpatient clients, • Diagnose psychiatric conditions and establish individualized treatment plans, • Provide ongoing psychopharmacological treatment and medication management, including MAT (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone) where appropriate, • Provide and/or oversee administration of long‑acting injectable medications as appropriate, • Monitor medication efficacy, adherence, and side effects, • Collaborate with residential and outpatient treatment teams to support integrated care, • Provide clinical psychiatric consultation to program staff, • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)., • Consult the NYS Prescription Monitoring Program (IStop) when prescribing controlled substances., • Provide psychoeducation to clients regarding diagnoses, medications, and health-promoting behaviors, • Contribute to program development and clinical best practices across both levels of care, • Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director. Key Responsibilities but not limited to: Oversee All Electoral Work • Develop and manage the process of evaluating candidates and organizations’ request for political endorsements, • Coordinate MRA-NJ’s involvement in federal, state and local races, including independent expenditure, • Direct the work of the Canvass Manager to support MRA-NJ’s electoral and policy goals, • Brief staff on political program and goals, • Create and oversee the organization’s electoral and policy budget, • Serve as the point of contact for all legislative work; engage elected officials, labor, and community to support MRNJ’s issues and campaigns, • Serve as registered lobbyist and monitor bills, • Build political support for the organization’s campaigns, including organizing political field activities, • Advocate for members in the annual budget process in state and local governments where members work and live, • Draft legislation on behalf of members and work with elected officials to pass the legislation, • Participate as MRNJ representative in strategic coalitions and strategic issue campaigns with other community organizations, • Direct the work of the Communications Manager preparing and executing communications to further strategic campaigns, • Prepare research reports as needed for background; prepare for and participate actively in campaign strategy meetings; develop messaging for political communications, • Grow the MRA-NJ committee of members who vet candidates for endorsements Requirements: • Eligible to work in the US, • At least 5+ years experience in issue advocacy, community organizing, labor, and/or related fields required; experience organizing with immigrant and/or working class communities is strongly preferred, • 5+ years experience managing organizing, political, professional staff, campaign, communications and organizing teams, from recruitment to retainment, • Relentless commitment to collective action and community organizing, • Knowledge of the New Jersey Legislature preferred., • Experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic work environment, • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete assignments under strict deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment, • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, Microsoft Office suite, and using a database to run reports, • Proficiency (fluency preferred) in both English and Spanish., • Associate degree or higher., • Excellent interpersonal skills, • Excellent verbal communication skills, • Ability to manage and motivate a large team, • Ability to identify, recruit, train and retain staff, • Short-term and long-term strategic planning skills, • Experience in Excel, Word, e-mail and database programs, • Must be willing and flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed., • Desire to work collaboratively and independently, • Must be able to clearly articulate the mission and political context for MRNJ’s work., • Must have a valid driver’s license., • Analytical Thinking, • Problem/Situation Analysis, • Problem Solving Ability, • System-Oriented, • Balanced Decision Making, • Emotional Control, • Attention to Detail, • Project/Task and Goals Focus, • Objective Listening, • Attitude Toward Others, • Flexibility, • Accountability for Others, • Respect for Policies, • Personal Accountability, • Meeting Standards, • Team Player, • Excellent written and verbal communication MRStates offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance, 401K, and generous paid vacation, sick, personal days.
