Job Description Recreation Supervisor This position reports to the Social Development Director and is a salaried, exempt role. At Job Corps, recreation is more than downtime. It is an important part of student development. The right recreation program gives young adults opportunities to build confidence, develop teamwork, learn personal responsibility, manage stress, and discover interests that can stay with them long after they leave Job Corps. We are looking for a Recreation Supervisor who understands that difference. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can lead a team, build engaging programs, connect with young adults, and create an environment where students want to participate. You will have the opportunity to bring new ideas to the program while maintaining the structure, safety, and accountability our students need. Make more than a living. Make a difference. Position Overview The Recreation Supervisor provides leadership and overall direction for the Center's recreation and non-vocational programs. You will supervise recreation staff, develop and coordinate activities, manage resources, maintain program standards, and ensure students have access to safe, structured, and meaningful opportunities outside the classroom. Success in this position requires more than planning activities. We need someone who can lead people, solve problems, communicate expectations, and build a recreation program that students respect and want to be part of. You will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with community organizations and identify activities, partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and experiences that expose students to life beyond the Center. What You Bring You are a leader who can balance structure with creativity. You know how to organize people and programs, but you also understand that successful recreation depends on relationships. You can connect with young adults while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations. You are comfortable making decisions, holding staff accountable, managing multiple activities, and adjusting when plans change. You understand that safety comes first, but you also know how to create an environment that is energetic, positive, and engaging. Most importantly, you understand that the example you set matters. What You Gain This is an opportunity to lead a program that directly affects the daily lives of young adults preparing for their future. You will have the ability to shape recreation programming, develop your staff, build community partnerships, and introduce students to activities and experiences they may never have had before. For the right person, this position offers meaningful leadership experience and the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work.
