Job DescriptionJob Title: A&P Mechanic Job Description The A&P Mechanic performs heavy maintenance and aircraft modifications in a high-volume Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment. This role focuses on C and D checks, major component removals and replacements, and structural and systems repairs on a variety of commercial and large fixed-wing aircraft. Responsibilities • Perform heavy maintenance tasks including C and D checks on commercial aircraft in a large MRO facility., • Carry out aircraft modifications in accordance with maintenance manuals, engineering documents, and regulatory standards., • Remove and replace engines, landing gear assemblies, and other major aircraft components., • Conduct structural packing and structural repairs as required during heavy maintenance visits., • Perform tire changes, wheel and brake system maintenance, and related landing gear services., • Repair and replace flight control surfaces and associated mechanisms and hardware., • Work on Airbus A319, A320, A321 and Boeing B737, B757, B767, B777, B747 aircraft, as well as other large fixed-wing platforms when applicable., • Apply depot-level or phase-level maintenance practices gained from military or civilian aviation experience., • Use personal tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks., • Follow all maintenance procedures, safety regulations, and quality standards to ensure airworthiness., • Collaborate with other mechanics, inspectors, and support staff in a multi-hangar environment to meet production schedules., • Support multiple shifts as needed, including weekends, to ensure maintenance timelines are met., • Document all work performed accurately in maintenance records and comply with applicable regulatory requirements., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to facility safety and housekeeping standards.Essential Skills, • Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license., • At least 2 years of A&P mechanic experience in an MRO environment performing heavy maintenance and aircraft modifications., • Hands-on experience with C and D checks or equivalent heavy maintenance on commercial aircraft., • Strong background working on Airbus A319, A320, A321 and Boeing B737, B757, B767, B777, B747 aircraft, or similar large transport aircraft., • Ability to perform engine removals and replacements, landing gear removals, repairs and replacements, and flight control repairs and replacements., • Proficiency in using personal hand tools and equipment required for aircraft maintenance tasks., • Ability to read, interpret, and follow maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and work instructions., • Experience working in a heavy maintenance or depot-level environment, either civilian or military., • Ability to work flexibly on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift and support weekend work as needed., • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all maintenance activities.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with Airbus A320 family (A319, A320, A321) and Boeing narrow-body and wide-body aircraft (B737, B757, B767, B777, B747) is highly desirable., • CRJ and ERJ regional jet maintenance experience is welcomed., • Depot level or phase level military experience on large fixed-wing aircraft such as C-17, C-130, KC-135, KC-10, or similar platforms is acceptable and valued., • Prior work in large-scale MRO or heavy maintenance hangars., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments within a multi-hangar operation., • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members across different shifts.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in extremely large MRO and heavy maintenance hangars with multiple bays and aircraft lines. You will work in a high-activity environment with multiple hangars and teams operating simultaneously. Steel toe shoes are required, and you must provide and use your own tools. The position is shift-based, with three primary shifts: 1st shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and 3rd shift from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Shift flexibility is required, and weekend work may be necessary to meet maintenance schedules. Specific shift preferences can be communicated and requested, but final shift assignments are typically made after the first week of training. The facility operates as a large-scale MRO environment, emphasizing safety, adherence to procedures, and professional attire suitable for industrial hangar work, including required steel toe footwear. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greensboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
