Job Purpose: The Special Projects Project Manager plays a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects within the Special Projects department. They ensure effective management of project design requirements, schedules, financial objectives, profitability targets, and change orders. By liaising with clients, general contractors, designers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, the manager ensures seamless communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. Leveraging extensive knowledge of construction processes and industry standards, they monitor project milestones, address changes, generate technical reports, resolve issues, and manage change orders to maintain project scope and budget. What You'll Do: • Develop comprehensive project plans in alignment with design requirements, schedules, and financial objectives., • Coordinate with clients, designers, engineers, subcontractors, field personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity of deliverables, requirements, schedules, and costs., • Document and communicate project plans effectively to all relevant parties involved., • Monitor project milestones, progress, and changes throughout the project lifecycle., • Generate technical status reports and provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status and progress., • Evaluate change order requests, assess their impact on project scope, schedule, and cost, and negotiate terms with the general contractor to ensure fair compensation for additional work or variations., • Document and track all change orders, including scope changes, costs, and approvals, to maintain project profitability and compliance with contractual obligations., • Identify and address any escalated issues that may impact project delivery or quality., • Coordinate with relevant parties to implement timely and effective solutions to mitigate risks and ensure project success., • Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising project quality or timelines., • Develop the schedule of values., • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms., • Monitor project expenditures against budget allocations and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure financial objectives are met., • Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators, budget variances, and potential risks., • Collaborate with the finance department to track project financials, process invoices, and reconcile accounts in a timely manner., • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize project costs and improve financial efficiency while maintaining project quality and compliance with contractual obligations. What You'll Bring: • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)., • 3 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with exposure to electrical projects., • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize, and execute construction projects from initiation to completion., • Proficiency in developing project plans, setting milestones, and managing resources to ensure project objectives are achieved within budget and schedule constraints., • Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, cost estimation, and cost control., • Ability to monitor project expenditures, track financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining profitability., • Experience in managing change orders and assessing their impact on project finances., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey project plans, requirements, and status updates to diverse stakeholders., • Proven experience in facilitating clear and concise communication among project teams, clients, subcontractors, and other relevant parties., • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner., • Experience in addressing escalated issues, mitigating risks, and managing unforeseen challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain project progress., • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate, inspire, and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams effectively., • Proficient in delegating tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a positive work environment conducive to productivity and collaboration., • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in managing project documentation, financial reports, and change order requests., • Ability to review and analyze data meticulously to ensure project compliance, identify discrepancies, and make informed decisions to achieve project objectives., • Proficient in utilizing project management tools, financial software, and collaboration platforms to streamline project processes, track progress, and facilitate communication., • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure adherence to quality and safety requirements., • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for the subcontractor's interests during contract negotiations, change order discussions, and resolution of disputes.
