As a New York Solar Program Ambassador, you will be at the forefront of educating NY homeowners about the incredible opportunity of switching to solar energy, with all its amazing benefits and no out-of-pocket costs. Solar energy is currently government funded, with many government incentives, rebates, abatements, tax credits, and electric bill cost-saving benefits. Most homeowners still believe that going solar is a costly process requiring upfront investment and other misconceptions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Properly educate and dispel misconceptions and replace them with facts about solar energy being subsidized by the federal, state, and city to enable homeowners to make the switch to solar without having to pay a penny for any of the usual out-of-pocket expenses such as solar designs, roof inspection, permits or installation. - Help homeowners understand, in a clear and consultative approach, all the benefits of getting approved for solar energy now while it is currently government funded. - Solar ambassadors canvass Queens and Brooklyn, NY counties door 2 door, direct marketing. Upon successfully educating homeowners, their goal is to schedule free, no obligation solar assessments for the homeowner. What we are looking for: - Entry Level Experience: Previous sales/canvassing experience is not necessary. - Teachable, willing to learn, and actively applying methods from training. - Incentive motivated. - Professional, outgoing & friendly personality with a strong work ethic. - Willingness to walk around neighborhoods and work independently while being a part of a great team. - Maintain a positive attitude even in the face of rejection. - Ability to work Mon-Thurs + Saturdays - 2 Shifts Available: Mon-Thurs 10 am-3 pm (10am-11am is office meeting before heading out to canvas) and Saturday 9am-2pm (no meeting) 25 hours OR Mon-Thurs 2:30 pm-8 pm (3-4 pm is office meeting before going to the turf to canvas) and Saturday 9 am-2 pm (no meeting) 27 hours Qualifications: - Comfortable working outdoors - Able to stand and walk for long periods. - Comfortable working Saturdays. - 17 years old or older. - Have a cell phone with data and internet. We are looking for an enthusiastic Canvasser to talk to the public about our new range of products. As a canvasser, you will be responsible for approaching people in malls, at home, and on the street, and telling them about our product(s) and its uses. We may also require you to sell our products first-hand and attend events, such as county fairs and expos, where our product(s) will be displayed. To ensure success as a canvasser, you should have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong background in sales, and the ability to provide information on a range of products. Ultimately, a top-notch Canvasser is someone who can intimately relate to people face-to-face and sell the company products or ideas without coming across as aggressive. Canvasser Responsibilities: Memorizing and reciting sales scripts or statements prepared by the employer. Driving to Canvassing locations. Approaching and talking to people in malls, on the street, and in their homes about the company or organization. Displaying knowledge of the product or organization and attempting to sway opinions. Obtaining signatures and personal information for electoral parties and businesses. Making cold calls from the office. Answering questions about the company product, party leader or organization. Attending rallies, shows, fairs, and other industry-related events. Maintaining a professional appearance. Meeting quotas set out by the company or organization. Recruiting and training new Canvassers. Canvasser Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Previous work experience as a canvasser. Sales experience preferable. Excellent interpersonal skills.
