Job Description Job Title: Medical Receptionist Overview The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients at a busy outpatient diagnostic imaging center. This role plays a critical part in delivering a positive patient experience while ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, referral compliance, and smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities • Greet patients promptly and professionally; manage check-in and check-out processes, • Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility prior to services, • Confirm required referrals and prior authorizations for imaging procedures (MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, etc.), • Review physician orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance, • Collect and document co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service, • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments while coordinating exam preparation instructions, • Maintain accurate patient records within EMR and scheduling systems, • Communicate effectively with technologists, radiologists, and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow, • Answer incoming calls, address patient inquiries, and escalate issues as needed, • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times, • 1+ years of experience in medical reception and insurance verification, • Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology and front-desk workflows, • Experience with insurance verification and EMR systems, • Excellent customer service and administrative skills, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general clerical tasks, • High School Diploma or equivalent, • Familiarity with Epic This position is based at an outpatient diagnostic imaging center with approximately 60 employees across three locations. Each site supports a team of roughly 20 staff members.
