American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/02/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work within the ED Holding Unit as part of the float pool, • Care for adult medical/surgical patients, including PCU-level acuity, • Assignments may include floating to ED and Med/Surg units as needed, • Patient ratios are 1:7 for MS/Tele and 1:4 for PCU-level patients, • Night shifts only, with a 36-hour weekly schedule and 13-week contracts, • Every other weekend is required, • Required to float based on skillset to other units or affiliate hospitals, • Special equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems, • EMR: Epic; medication system: Pyxis; communication tool: SBAR, • Responsibility includes caring for patients holding in the ED awaiting inpatient beds, • May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disaster scenarios, • Unit orientation is 12 hours, • Navy scrubs are required, • A maximum of 7 days RTO is permitted and none allowed during the first week or on holidays, • Holiday coverage requires working 2 out of 3 major holidays, • No additional RTO may be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may result in assignment cancellation, • Candidates must not have worked as a permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee at the specified health system in the past 12 months, • Current travel Per Diem clinicians at the health system are ineligible, • First-time travelers accepted, • Local candidates are accepted, but those within 50 miles will be offered a local rate, • Fatigue policy enforces no more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours per week\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NC or compact RN license in hand at the time of start, • Minimum two years of RN experience required, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, • Demonstrated skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response, peripheral and PICC line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin administration, and specialized respiratory equipment, • Must pass EKG testing prior to start, • Charting experience with Epic required, • Comfort with management of colostomies, feeding tubes, renal failure, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomies\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
