Role Highlights: Survey Party Chief with a strong background in construction layout, as-builts, grading, and field-to-office coordination, with an emphasis on transmission line, substation, and supporting civil infrastructure projects. This role requires a technically skilled leader who excels in plan interpretation, Trimble workflows, surface modeling, office calculations, data analysis, and mentoring field crews while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and accountability across multiple projects. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading crews in active and remote construction environments, working with design models in the office, and owning projects from mobilization through completion. Shaping Impact: Your Key Responsibilities: Field Operations & Construction Layout • Perform and oversee construction layout for substations, transmission line foundations, drilled piers, anchor points, steel, utilities, and associated civil work, • Execute as-built surveys for foundations, embed plates, anchor bolts, steel, utilities, grading, and hardscape features, • Read, interpret, and apply civil, structural, grading, utility, and transmission alignment plans, • Establish, verify, and maintain horizontal and vertical control tied to project and utility control networks, • Perform utility layout, including underground utilities, duct banks, drainage, and related infrastructure, • Support layout and verification of access roads, including centerlines, offsets, grades, and cross slopes, • Layout and verify curb and gutter, paving, and associated improvements per design plans, • Support grading operations, including verification of elevations, slopes, and tolerances, • Collect data for cuts and fills and assist with preparation of cut sheets and earthwork documentation, • Ensure layout accuracy, quality control, and adherence to strict project tolerances, • Maintain survey equipment, calibration checks, and readiness for rugged field conditionsOffice & Technical Responsibilities, • Process, analyze, and manage survey data using Trimble Business Center (TBC), • Work with design surfaces, including TIN models, LandXML files, and contour data, • Perform surface comparisons, elevation checks, and cut/fill analysis against design models, • Prepare layout files, control reports, and as-built deliverables suitable for utility owner, EPC, and inspector review, • Perform office calculations, coordinate geometry, and data adjustments, • Assist with boundary and ROW survey support as needed, including easements and site limits, • Maintain thorough field notes, control documentation, and project records for traceability and audits, • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, inspectors, and utility representatives to resolve discrepanciesLeadership & Mentorship, • Lead, train, and mentor survey crew members in power and civil construction surveying standards, • Set daily priorities, manage workloads, and maintain production schedules across multiple sites, • Promote a culture of accuracy, safety, professionalism, and ownership, • Provide technical guidance, problem-solving support, and mentorship to field crews, • Serve as the primary survey point of contact on assigned transmission, substation, and civil infrastructure projectsProject Ownership & Travel, • Take ownership of assigned projects from mobilization through completion, • Willingness to travel and work out of town, including remote project locations, • Maintain project continuity, documentation, and communication across sites, • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality and schedule expectationsYour Unique Qualifications:, • Proven experience as a Survey Party Chief, preferably on heavy civil, transmission, substation, or utility projects, • Strong background in construction layout, as-built surveys, grading, utilities, and surface-based workflows, • Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment and Trimble Business Center (TBC), • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, grading, utility, and transmission construction plans, • Experience working with design surfaces (TIN), LandXML files, and contour data, • Solid understanding of surveying calculations, coordinate systems, and data analysis, • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in note keeping and documentation, • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as requiredPreferred Qualifications, • Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) / LSIT certification preferred but not required, • Experience with ROW, easements, and boundary support for transmission corridors, • Familiarity with cut/fill analysis, cut sheet preparation, and grading documentation, • Experience working around active construction sites and energized facilities (where applicable), • Ability to troubleshoot field and office issues independentlyPhysical Skills and Essential Requirements:, • Ability to lift and carry lightweight equipment and materials, typically up to 20 pounds., • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.Benefits/Compensation:, • Medical/Dental/Vision/401k Matching/PTOWhy Join DynaGrid?, • Be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team., • Work on impactful projects in the utilities sector., • Competitive pay and benefits.
