Job Description Title: Shift Supervisor Location: TBD Pay Range: $24.72 per hour (effectively $45,000 per year) FLSA Classification: Full-time (35 hours), Non-exempt Role Summary: The successful candidate will be under the supervision of the Security Director and Site Director. The primary responsibility will be to oversee and instruct the security staff of their assigned facility. The shift supervisor will be required to provide direction and assistance to both Residence Workers and Security Guards, ensuring a safe environment for both employees and clients. Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to: • Monitor the clients, units, and grounds at all times to ensure the security and safety of each resident, • Examine all items entering the facility to ensure client and staff safety, • Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed, • Record incidents and residents’ grievances appropriate in log book and on incident report, • Maintain ongoing communication with all department supervisors concerning social services issues, • Manage entry logs to ensure all persons entering the facility are recorded and accounted for, • Inspect all cleaning and service chores assigned to program aides to ensure completion, • Participate in the development of site goals and objectives by making recommendations that can aide in site efficiency, • Assist clients with questions and resolving any issue as they may arise, • Monitor video surveillance of all areas of the facility, • Adhere to safety, health, and fire hazard guidelines; policies and procedures, • Report any immediate safety hazards to appropriate supervisory personnel or maintenance personnel, • Work diplomatically to solve issues that may arise, • Provide coverage when necessary, • May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed, • Perform all other required duties to ensure the facility is running efficiently Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surface, • Ability to climb stairs occasionally during shift, • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks., • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Work Environment / Schedule Requirements: • Office setting with regular exposure to computer screens and moderate noise levels., • May be required to work shifts, including evenings or night tours and/or Saturdays, Sundays and holidays with holiday pay differential., • Transitional Housing Program staff are required to continue their shift until relieved by another staff member or authorized to leave by a supervisor. Qualifications: • NYS Security License, F-80 Certificate of Fitness, CPR/Basic First Aid certification., • Minimum High School Diploma / GED, • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with clients, • General knowledge of working in a residential facility preferred, • Knowledge of HIPPA guidelines and standards, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, • Commitment to excellence and high standards, • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions, • Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively, • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes., • Must pass drug screening to be appointed., • This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment. Job Description Essential Job Functions Assists in Providing Clinical Services: • Based on a written treatment plan received from the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (ITT), identifies those aspects, which can be integrated into residence activities., • Provides clinical oversight of implementation of all phases of residents' treatment plans. Assigns staff to implement services., • Observes the delivery of services to assess reaction/progress and to evaluate the quality of the service. Discusses results with staff and makes any modification deemed necessary (if appropriate) or presents recommendations to the ITT., • Discusses with other managers any incidents or circumstances which could be taken into consideration in planning and carrying out activities., • Informs staff to the types of clinical services and recreational activities available., • Reviews crisis intervention of residents with staff, reviews nonverbal and verbal crisis intervention techniques to be used with each individual resident, and staff-actions during a crisis., • Informs staff of community resources and ensures that staff are accompanying residents on regularly scheduled or emergency visits to medical treatment facilities, social agencies, government offices, or other locations associated with treatment or assistance for residents., • Establishes and maintains work schedules in accordance with agency policy. Reports lost stolen, missing, or damaged property to the Residence Manager. If directed, conducts initial investigations of property that is lost, stolen, missing, or damaged., • Recommends the purchase of supplies and equipment; properly secures all property and equipment. Conducts regular inspections of vehicles and property to ensure cleanliness, accountability, and serviceability., • Conducts regular inspections of resident rooms to ensure property accountability and serviceability. Establishes key control procedures., • Ensures internal program compliance with federal, state, city, and agency regulatory requirements. Monitors the quality of the services provided to residents., • Develops a residence mission statement that supports the division and agency mission statements., • Maybe directed to coordinate with the Quality Management Department and the Administration Division for staff assistance in the preparation for an audit., • Reviews plans of corrective action, incident reports, and program evaluation reports and recommends action that needed for improvement., • Educates staff in the benefits of resident and family involvement, levels of resident and family involvement, types of resident and family involvement, nature of resident and family involvement, and issues of working with the resident and family., • Develops a resident strategy for working with residents and families and develops activities that foster residence-resident and family cooperation and coordination., • Promotes Mental Retardation programs in local communities., • Educates staff and residents on the importance of a constructive relationship with local elected officials, community boards, and community citizens., • Cooperates with other organizations in development of understanding and interest participating in long-range plans for mental retardation program development., • May be responsible for facility maintenance and reports needed repairs to the Director of Facility Maintenance., • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of OPWDD, as well as state and federal regulations as they apply to the care and treatment of the developmentally disabled., • Knowledge of active treatment programs as they related to the developmentally disabled., • Knowledge of sound supervisory practices; ability to lead a multi-disciplinary staff of professionals and paraprofessionals and make decisions quickly in a variety of situations., • Knowledge of the characteristics of the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled; knowledge of active treatment and individual program plans., • Ability to manage multiple projects, delegate tasks, and check on the completion of assigned tasks., • Ability to manage resources, which includes money, material, time, and people., • Serves as a role model to staff and residents., • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of experience providing direct services to people with IDD, that includes supervisory experience. Bachelors or Associates in Human Services may be substituted for up to 2 years of general experience. AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid required. Clean, valid NYS Driver’s License.
