Job Description Concrete Laborer Job Description This role involves working as a production worker in a concrete precast manufacturing plant, where you will help build, set, and finish large concrete forms as part of a close-knit team. You will strip existing forms, reset them, pour new concrete, and use hand tools to smooth and finish the surfaces. The position is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting, climbing ladders, and working in an open-air, non-climate-controlled environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork. Responsibilities • Work as part of a team of approximately five people to strip existing concrete forms, reset them, and prepare them for new pours., • Build and assemble concrete forms, ensuring they are properly aligned and secured before pouring concrete., • Pour concrete into large forms, typically around 3 ft x 3 ft or larger, following established production procedures., • Use hand trowels and other finishing tools to smooth and finish concrete surfaces to required specifications., • Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure and basic math skills to ensure precise cuts and placements., • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively for tasks such as cutting, assembling, and finishing., • Perform general production duties, including machine operation, assembly, painting, and basic carpentry-related tasks as needed., • Clean finished products and maintain cleanliness around the plant, including facility maintenance and housekeeping duties., • Move and lift materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs continuously throughout the shift., • Climb ladders and work at varying heights as required by the production process., • Rotate through different departments and tasks as part of cross-training to support various areas of production., • Follow simple directions, communicate clearly with team members, and adhere to all safety and quality procedures., • Work both indoors and in open-air areas of the facility, adapting to hot, dirty, and dusty conditions while maintaining productivity. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience working in manufacturing, production, general labor, construction, or outdoor work., • At least 1 year of experience using hand and power tools in a work environment., • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately., • Basic understanding of math and measurements to support accurate cutting, measuring, and assembly., • Demonstrated experience with general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and manual handling., • Experience working in an outdoor environment or open-air facility., • Strong work ethic and a positive, reliable attitude., • Ability to follow simple directions and maintain strong communication with team members and supervisors., • Physical capability to stand, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs continuously, and climb ladders throughout the day., • Comfort working in hot, dirty, and dusty conditions in a non-climate-controlled environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in construction or concrete work., • Concrete finishing experience, including using hand trowels and other finishing tools., • Assembly or carpentry experience., • Experience with machine operation, painting, and general production tasks., • Familiarity with facility maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities., • Ability to adapt to cross-training and support multiple departments within the plant., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Work Environment This role is based in a concrete precast manufacturing plant operating primarily on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of working later, up to approximately 7:00 p.m., and strong potential for overtime. The facility is non-climate-controlled with a covered roof and open-air layout, resulting in hot, dirty, and dusty conditions at times. You will spend most of the day on your feet, standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and climbing ladders while working with hand and power tools, concrete forms, and finishing equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and cross-training, with different departments handling various stages of production and providing opportunities to learn new skills and responsibilities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
