Job DescriptionGeneral Labor and Operators Available Nashville All Shifts $19-23.50/hr! Job Description The Material Handler safely moves, measures, and prepares metal materials to support production and shipping operations in a busy steel warehouse. This role operates equipment such as overhead cranes and front-end loaders, follows instructions from supervisors and leads, and ensures materials are accurately measured and staged for CNC operators and outbound shipments. Responsibilities • Accurately read and use a tape measure to measure metal and materials to confirm they meet job and customer specifications., • Receive and interpret orders and instructions from leads and supervisors to fulfill customer requirements., • Pull and move metal materials to CNC operators so they can cut products according to client needs., • Operate an overhead crane to move metal safely within the warehouse and to load materials onto flatbed trucks for shipment., • Rig metal securely for loading and shipping on flatbed trucks, following safe rigging practices., • Operate a front-end loader to move and organize materials as directed., • Perform quality checks on finished products to verify they meet required standards before shipment., • Handle shipping and receiving tasks, including unloading incoming materials and staging outgoing orders., • Assist with warehouse inventory, order picking, and packaging of materials for delivery., • Work closely and safely with team members to move, store, and organize materials throughout the facility., • Lift and carry materials weighing approximately 45–50 pounds on a frequent basis., • Work flexibly in different areas of the warehouse as needed to support production and logistics. Essential Skills • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for measuring metal and other materials., • Experience with material handling in a warehouse, production, construction, or steel environment., • Ability to lift 45–50 pounds frequently and perform physically demanding tasks., • Comfort working in a steel warehouse environment that is non-climate-controlled and can be dirty and physically demanding., • Strong focus on safety when working with heavy materials, equipment, and as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Overhead crane operation experience is a plus., • Front-end loader (FL) experience is a plus., • Experience in warehouse, production, construction, or steel operations is a plus., • Experience with rigging metal for loading and shipping is beneficial., • Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including unloading, order picking, and packaging., • Experience working with sheet metal and warehouse inventory systems., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment This position is based in a steel warehouse that is non-climate-controlled and can be dirty and physically demanding. You work around heavy metal materials, overhead cranes, flatbed trucks, and other industrial equipment. The role requires frequent lifting of 45–50 pounds and regular movement throughout the facility. Work is performed on one of three shifts: 1st shift (5:30 AM – 1:30 PM, Monday–Friday), 2nd shift (1:30 PM – 9:30 PM, Monday–Friday), or 3rd shift (9:30 PM – 5:30 AM, Sunday–Thursday). Safety gear and appropriate work attire suitable for a steel warehouse environment are expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
