Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Resource Coordinator will facilitate the program referral process for BJI’s Felony Alternative to Incarceration programming. They will review all available information about each potentially eligible participants to determine their specific suitability for all BJI programming. Once participants are enrolled in programming, the Resource Coordinator will provide written and verbal updates to the court including defense attorneys, assistant district attorneys, and judges on a regular basis. The Resource Coordinator is also responsible for providing court coverage to various Supreme Court parts, including specialized court initiatives such as Brooklyn Mental Health Court, as well as coordinating off-calendar case conferences with defense counsel and assistant district attorneys. EDI’s mission is to ensure tenants and their families can access the holistic resources needed to maintain safe, stable, and affordable housing, while advancing data-driven, harm-reduction approaches to housing court practice through close collaboration with courts, government agencies, and community stakeholders. The Center for Justice Innovation seeks to hire Project Managers to oversee the daily operations of EDI in Housing Courts located in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Project Managers will lead borough-level implementation and day-to-day operations of EDI, supervising direct service staff, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery. THE OPPORTUNITY The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC; Justice Center) offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement. The Justice Center’s Alternatives to Incarceration programming provides judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice. Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Case Manager will be responsible for the monitoring and case management of program participants, referring participants to voluntary social service interventions, and helping promote compliance with pre-plea and post-plea conditions. The Case Manager will stay in regular contact with participants, including facilitating in-person case management meetings. The Case Manager will also facilitate groups and assist in development of onsite services for participants. Additionally, the Case Manager will be in communication with attorneys’ offices, community-based providers, and draft memos to keep the court informed of participants’ compliance. The Case Manager will work closely with an interdisciplinary team providing adult case management services. POSITION OVERVIEW Under supervision of the Nurse Supervisor/Manager (RN) and with the collaboration of the Program Director, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the safe and efficient dispensing of methadone medication doses to clients, consistent with the clinic procedures, and performing nursing assessments and functions within their scope of practice. The LPN will coordinate the implementation of medication dispensing in the integrated outpatient program (CDOP/OTP) for clients, which can include various assisted treatment medications such as methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, and naloxone, and other medications in the OTP dispensing unit. The LPN will be required to collaborate with members of the behavioral health, medical team and other leadership in the development, management, and operations of the OTP and will operate under the organization’s philosophy, standards of practice and policy. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Adheres and dispenses appropriate methadone dosages, in accordance with clinic procedures and guidelines according to DEA, OASAS, SAMSHA, and DOH regulations., • Details inventory maintenance and reporting with computations according to each tour., • Maintains accurate documentation of daily methadone dispensing log., • Maintains daily reports for accountability of daily dispensing activities such as calibration, spillage, compliance, and swapping of inventory., • Performs nursing assessment during each medication dispensed for each client to identify alertness and orientation., • Adheres and maintains security of dispensing area and inventory; report any diversion to immediate nursing supervisor., • Utilizes computer skills to dispense methadone via computer system., • Completes nursing assessments and evaluations during intake, client visit, annual evaluation and/or crisis basis., • Reviews client’s medical history and medication during initial evaluation and the 90-day reassessment., • Ensures that the findings of the nursing assessment, the comprehensive care plan, and recommendations for nursing follow-up are documented dated, and signed in the client’s record., • Communicates to client’s primary counselor and medical director when new medical or nursing needs are apparent., • Performs technical skills such as vital signs, phlebotomy, and various lab collection procedures according to CLIA guidelines for intake, annual examinations, and as necessary for client evaluations and assessments., • Conducts and documents tuberculin implanting and reading within appropriate time frame, during admission and at annual examination., • Ensures the provision and coordination of staff teaching regarding prevention, transmission, risk reduction and risk elimination strategies for HIV/AIDS., • Provides educational health related materials at admission, as needed, at the request of a client or as medically/clinically indicated., • Implements nursing care effectively and with courtesy according to clinic policy and procedures., • Follows accepted standards of nursing practice in providing direct care, performing procedures, and using equipment., • Maintains infection control standards per policy and in collaboration with Medical Director., • Coordinates all necessary client services with interdisciplinary team members in the comprehensive care planning process., • Maintains accurate documentation of all nursing activities., • Assist in our OASAS programs in events of nursing shortages. The Midtown Community Justice Center is seeking a Program Manager to oversee the Youth P.A.C.T (Positively Advancing in Community Together), a citywide diversion program for teenagers arrested for gun possession. Youth P.A.C.T aims to address the root causes of gun carrying and violence identify supportive and protective factors for its young participants. The program provides a forum for young people and their loved ones to improve mutual understanding and communication, while facilitating connections to critical community-based resources. The Justice Center provides judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice. The Staten Island Justice Center is seeking a Program Associate for its Diversion programming. Reporting to the Coordinator of Client Engagement, the Program Associate will support the engagement of Diversion-eligible individuals by conducting initial outreach, preliminary intakes, schedule programming, update compliance and lead completion protocols, facilitate off-ramps from programming, connect participants to resources and referrals, manage case files and records, and build awareness of the program among potential participants and legal and court stakeholders. The Program Associate will also support the Diversion team with regular operations, as needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Contact potential Diversion participants and describe the diversion option, conduct an initial intake and screening, and schedule them for programming;, • Explain program requirements and expectations to clients;, • Assist with conducting client and attorney outreach to ensure all mandated clients are effectively engaged;, • Provide written and verbal case updates to the court and other court staff including compliance reporting;, • Assist the Court Operations department with data entry;, • Ensure that all defendants who are mandated to services are connected with a case manager;, • Coordinate with stakeholders and clients to notify the court of non-compliance and re-arrests;, • Maintain organized records of outreach attempts, daily attendance sheets, completion, and other project details;, • Maintain accurate computer records in both the Center’s internal case management tool and a database that is shared with project partners;, • Prepare and circulate outreach materials and certificates of program completion;, • Assist with the development and implementation of new programs, protocols, initiatives, and/or interventions;, • Work with the clinical team to refer participants to voluntary social services;, • Facilitate and co-facilitate group-based programming;, • Research, identify and develop potential referral sources for program participants;, • Oversee documentation of program data, and collaborate with Director of Court Operations and the Data Analytic and Applied Research department to maintain quality of data;, • Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and on and off-site visits;, • Participate in staff evening and weekend community meetings, events, and programming, when necessary; and, • Additional relevant tasks, as necessary.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of related experience working in at risk communities or a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5-6 years of relevant experience. Must be able to provide service in a strengths-based manner and understand the importance of meeting clients where they are. Willingness and interest in engaging individuals with mental health and substance abuse needs. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally-competent manner required. Professional demeanor and ability to communicate appropriately with building stakeholders. Excellent organizational and interpersonal, communication and writing skills required. SIJC operates diversion, alternative to detention and incarceration, supervised release, reentry, mental health and wellness, workforce development, peer-led restorative justice and leadership development programs. SIJC is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist who will support as a Mentor in working with youth justice initiatives participants ages 13 to 18. Reporting to the Youth Justice Initiatives Program Manager, the Youth Engagement Specialist will develop and oversee mentorship programming activities—including group workshops and individual mentorship sessions. These activities will take place virtually, on-site, and in the community. The Youth Engagement Specialist will work individually and with a team to assist participants in addressing the individual and societal factors that may impact their behavior. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Engage in one-on-one relationships with mentees and their families, including, but not limited to, scheduling and facilitating individual mentorship meetings in participant's homes and in the community several times per week and scheduling and participating in family events and outings;, • Facilitate group programming including, but not limited to, community engagement projects, group outings, weekly trauma informed group sessions, restorative justice circles, and workshops on topics related to positive youth development and skill-building, and leadership development;, • Carry out accurate and adequate case planning for mentees, including scheduling and participating in meetings related to mentees' well-being, as well as family team meetings, school meetings, meetings with external service providers, court appearances, and probation meetings, among others;, • Assist with monitoring youth compliance for mentees, including curfew monitoring, educational outreach, and weekly programming activities with probation, court mandates and disposition orders and maintain consistent communication with family and criminal court stakeholders such as lawyers, probation officers, and judges;, • Act as point person for participant’s support system—such as family members, neighborhood supports, and school staff— as needed;, • Utilize online databases to track participant activities and outcomes;, • Operate company vehicle in the community for community outreach and immediate client engagement and drive participants to referred services when needed;, • Help with loading and replenishment of materials needed in the vehicle;, • Provide coverage and support for other SIJC youth programming as needed;, • Participate in SIJC all-staff meetings, committees, and staff development activities;, • Attend SIJC events or community meetings after hours or on weekends; and, • Perform other activities and duties, as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma with 2-5 years of experience working with youth from marginalized communities and/or youth who have been involved in the juvenile or criminal system, or equivalent lived experience in a related area, preferably as a criminal justice practitioner. A valid driver's license is required. Strong knowledge of community resources in the North Shore of Staten Island is a plus. For this role, candidate must be able to seek direction and advice when necessary and make independent decisions when possible. Good judgment, a trauma-informed approach, excellent communication, and organizational and multitasking abilities are a must for this role. The candidate should have a strong ability to balance participation in a collaborative work environment with independent work. Computer literacy and knowledge of the juvenile justice system preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and be able to provide crisis management as needed.
