Director Department: Information Technology Reports to: VP, Administration Status: Exempt, Full-Time Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000 Work Location: Fully Onsite | The Smith Center for the Performing Arts Summary of Duties and Responsibilities The IT Director is responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, security, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s information systems, infrastructure, and technology operations. This role ensures technology solutions effectively support and advance the organization’s business objectives. The IT Director will drive the execution of the organization’s technology strategy, including identifying and recommending innovative solutions, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring the effective management of systems, applications, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include overseeing systems analysis, conducting feasibility studies, and guiding the selection, implementation, and optimization of hardware and software solutions. This role is also accountable for ensuring the integrity, security, and scalability of IT systems while delivering reliable, efficient, and customer-focused technology services that support organizational needs. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s information systems and technology infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while positioning The Smith Center (TSC) as a leader in its field.Oversees the design, implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of all IT infrastructure, including servers, desktop and laptop systems, networks, and related hardware, based on ongoing assessment of organizational needs.Evaluates, recommends, and implements new technologies, systems, and services to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and support organizational growth; assesses requests for upgrades and enhancements, conducting cost-benefit analyses and prioritizing initiatives accordingly.Directs the development, implementation, integration, and optimization of software systems, including event management, ticketing, accounting, office automation, and other specialized platforms critical to operations.Oversees telecommunications and data systems, including voice services, network connectivity, cellular services, and third-party service providers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.Establishes and maintains technology standards, documentation, software licensing compliance and costs, and asset management practices to ensure effective governance of IT resources.Ensures appropriate user access and data governance across systems, supporting reporting and data needs—including outputs for marketing, development, and volunteer mailings—while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.Leads the procurement of technology solutions, including hardware, software, and services, managing vendor relationships and contracts to align with organizational goals and budget.Ensures the security, integrity, and reliability of all systems and data; develops and implements cybersecurity strategies, policies, and controls to mitigate risk and protect organizational information.Monitors, evaluates, and reports on IT performance, project progress, resource utilization, and system effectiveness, providing regular updates and strategic insights to executive leadership.Serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities, driving initiatives that support long-term organizational success.Leads, mentors, and develops IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Develops, manages, and executes the IT operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational priorities.Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with the scope and responsibilities of the role. Required Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.Minimum 10 (10) years of progressive experience in information technology, including at least three (3) years in a leadership or management capacity overseeing IT operations. Experience in a performing arts, venue, hospitality, or similar service-oriented environment preferred.Demonstrated expertise in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and core business applications, with a strong understanding of governance frameworks, cybersecurity best practices, data protection, and business continuity/disaster recovery planning.Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and third-party service providers, including negotiation, performance oversight, and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.Proven ability to develop and execute IT strategy aligned with organizational goals, including evaluating emerging technologies, leading system implementations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven track record of building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Computer SkillsStrong knowledge of server infrastructure, including virtual environments, storage solutions, and cloud-based systems.Advanced experience in network administration, including performance optimization, security, and infrastructure management.Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Excel, and related collaboration tools.Experience with hardware lifecycle management, including system upgrades, capacity planning, and performance optimization.Working knowledge of telecommunications systems, including Voice over IP technologies.Understanding of network infrastructure components, including MDF/IDF environments and structured cabling systems.Familiarity with AV and IT systems integration to support operational and event-based technology needs. The base annual salary range for this full-time and exempt position is $100,000 - $110,000 plus benefits, including insurance plans as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and scope of responsibilities. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by key factors such as work experience, skills, abilities, and job-related education and training.
