MCC’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children ages 0-3. Position Summary Responsible for planning and providing culturally connected, high-quality parenting education program services in a variety of service environments, including community-based locations and correctional facilities, to meet program objectives set forth by funders and MCC. Core Functional Responsibilities • Plans and leads virtual/in-person parenting education groups for pregnant individuals and caregivers/parents of children 0-5 across the Delaware Valley region, primarily Montgomery, Bucks, Delco, Chester, Philadelphia, and Berks counties., • Co-facilitates/facilitates in-person parenting education groups in a variety of service environments, including community-based locations and correctional facilities (e.g., county jails, youth detention centers, men’s and women’s residential facilities, etc.) as assigned., • Complete and maintain required clearances, onboarding, and orientation processes, and adhere to facility-specific protocols to maintain eligibility to provide services in correctional settings., • Deliver in-person services within secured or controlled environments in compliance with all facility-specific protocols, security requirements, and external partner expectations., • Adapt facilitation approach appropriately to meet the unique needs of justice-impacted pregnant individuals and caregivers within correctional environments., • Integrates parent/child activities and engages children into groups when applicable., • Conducts individual sessions with group participants identified in collaboration with the Program Manager as needing additional support and skill building., • Utilizes evidence-based Nurturing Parenting curriculum and evidence-informed Growing Great Kids Together curriculum., • Conducts pre/post surveys to measure program impact., • Conducts intakes, completes weekly group and individual documentation, and tracks group attendance in a timely manner as required by funders and MCC administration., • Inputs data into MCC’s ETO database and other relevant databases per contract stipulations., • Refers participants to additional MCC services, outside agencies, and to informational/local community resources as needed., • Provides support to families in crisis with de-escalation, anger management, and positive discipline techniques and parenting skills that protect children from abuse and neglect; reports suspected child abuse and neglect., • Distributes certificates and other incentives to participants who complete their group participation., • Confirms caregiver participation with letters for the court when requested., • Ensures confidentiality of client records, sharing pertinent information only with the client’s approval. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Demonstrated group facilitation skills, • Knowledge and interest in parenting education and skill development., • Skilled in trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches., • Willingness to facilitate parenting groups in jails and residential treatment facilities., • Available to work non-traditional hours, including evenings., • Ability to travel in and around the Delaware Valley area to provide services as needed., • Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, and objectives, and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team., • Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues, particularly with pregnant women, prenatal care, child development, parenting, and other services for mothers, young children, and their families., • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues facing the community served, knowledge of community resources., • Good record keeping and organizational skills with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks., • Excellent oral and written communication skills., • Ability to easily engage with people and feel confident speaking in public., • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, empathetic, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, clients, and members of the community., • Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting platforms, data entry and management, word processing, and use of the Internet)., • Ability to work well with individuals and as a team member. Experience, Education, and Licensure • Experience: Two plus years of experience providing community-based services and knowledge about community health, parenting, and maternal and child health issues.
