Job Description: The Joint Operations Readiness Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as a critical advisor to the Joint Force, providing specialized expertise to enhance mission readiness through the planning, execution, and assessment of complex training events. This role mentors CCMD and TSOC staff, ensuring SOF context is accurately represented within realistic, multi-domain scenarios using Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC)tools to bridge physical assets with synthetic threats. The ideal candidate is a strategic mentor who translates joint doctrine and senior guidance into actionable training objectives within high-stakes environments. Job Location: Primary location of performance is HQ USSOCOM, MacDill AFB, FL. Other locations may be designated as required. Responsibilities: The Joint Operations Readiness SME plans and executes joint training events, advising CCMD/TSOC staff on representing SOF context within multi-domain scenarios and near-peer threat replications. By leveraging LVC tools, the SME bridges physical and synthetic environments to enhance force readiness while ensuring alignment with Joint Training Plans and SOF-CF I3 objectives. This role coaches Joint HQ staff in real time to accelerate integration proficiency, utilizing Joint Operation Planning Process (JOPP), Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC), and Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) to translate senior guidance into actionable training outcomes. Beyond event execution, the SME collaborates with government stakeholders on policy development, readiness metrics, and organizational oversight to strengthen governance frameworks. They establish scalable C2 structures according to joint doctrine and provide commanders with critical insights into operational risk and staff-development pathways. The SME evaluates performance across all warfighting functions, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending strategies to ensure mission-essential proficiency. Through expert scenario design and inject development, they facilitate cross-domain synchronization to identify integration shortfalls. Finally, the position ensures operational integration by aligning training plans and readiness measures with overarching mission goals. Duties: • Plan, coordinate, execute, and assess joint, interagency, and multinational training and readiness events in support of CCMD and TSOC operational requirements., • Advise and mentor Joint Force and SOF battle staff on operational planning, mission integration, and execution across warfighting functions and multi-domain operations., • Support development, refinement, and execution of joint training scenarios, including near-peer threat replication and complex operational environments., • Integrate LVC systems to enhance realism, scale, and effectiveness of training events., • Apply joint planning processes such as JOPP, JELC, and JTS to translate senior leader intent into executable training objectives and event frameworks., • Observe, assess, and document staff performance during training events, identifying gaps in synchronization, integration, and operational execution., • Develop after-action reports (AARs), readiness assessments, and recommendations to improve joint force training outcomes and mission readiness., • Provide real-time coaching, facilitation, and subject matter expertise to Joint HQ staff without assuming execution authority., • Support development and implementation of Joint Training Plans aligned with strategic guidance, joint doctrine, and SOF-CF I3 initiatives., • Advise on readiness evaluation methodologies, performance metrics, and assessment frameworks to support continuous improvement of force readiness., • Coordinate with USSOCOM, Combatant Commands, TSOCs, Joint Staff, and multinational partners to ensure synchronization of training objectives and operational priorities., • Analyze training outcomes and staff performance to identify operational risks, capability gaps, and integration shortfalls, and recommend mitigation strategies., • Assist in designing scalable Joint HQ structures to support training and readiness events in accordance with joint doctrine., • Contribute to policy development and training governance related to joint operations readiness, force integration, and staff proficiency development., • Extensive experience supporting Joint Force, CCMD, and/or TSOC-level training, planning, and operational readiness activities., • 12+ years of experience in joint operations, SOF integration, training and readiness, or a related operational environment., • Strong understanding of joint doctrine, including Joint Publications, Joint Training System (JTS), JELC, and JOPP., • Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and assessing joint and/or multinational training exercises, including use of LVC environments., • Proven ability to advise and mentor senior staff and leadership on operational planning, readiness, and integration across warfighting functions and multi-domain operations., • Experience analyzing staff performance and readiness using systems such as DRRS and other readiness reporting frameworks., • Strong knowledge of SOF operations and the integration of SOF within conventional and joint force environments., • Demonstrated ability to develop training objectives, scenarios, injects, and after-action reports to support continuous improvement and readiness assessment., • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and brief senior leaders, joint staff, and multinational partners., • Experience supporting USSOCOM, Combatant Commands, TSOCs, or the Joint Staff is highly preferred.Education:, • Bachelor's degree Certifications: Salary at ISA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
