We need a glass shop associate who wants to be a part of a growing team, who is self-motivated to advance the company’s goals. Position Summary The Glass Shop Production Associate can perform all tasks involved in the production of the company’s glass stem sub-assemblies and final products. This includes glass cutting, glass lathe turning and glass stem fabrication, and bulb blowing with proprietary glass formulas, using a variety of machines and tools. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. The AlpHa glass shops use an established career structure that allow associates to study under a mentor to learn increasingly difficult levels of lathe turning and bulb blowing and test their skills for promotional opportunities multiple time per calendar year. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions: • Cuts glass tubing of specified type, using cutting tools, such as glass saw and hot-wire cutter., • Operates glassblowing lathe to join and shape glass or plastic tubing, according to blueprints and work orders., • Selects, inserts, and clamps specified mandrels in head and tailstock of lathe, using wrenches., • Inserts and clamps tube and other glass parts of various lengths, shapes, and diameters to be joined in chucks, using mallet and wrenches., • Lights fixed jets and hand torches and turns gas valves to adjust height and color of flames and obtain specified temperature., • Heats glass tubing until pliable, using gas torch, and blows, bends, and shapes tubing to specified form, using hand torches and tips, blow hose, hand tools, glass rods, and manual pressure to shape, seal, splice, imbed, and weld rotating parts according to specifications., • Joins and seals subassemblies to assemble finished product, using gas torch, hand tools, and vacuum pump., • Blows through hose connected to center of chuck to shape glass or maintain air pressure within tube., • Ability to Work Quickly and Methodically, • Thoroughness and Attention to Details, • Ability to Follow Instructions, • Willingness to Work Flexibly, • Teamwork Orientation While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, various temperatures, and moving mechanical equipment. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear. The position requires the ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Requirements: Required Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred Previous production experience Previous experience in production of electrochemical products or glass assemblies a plus Must be able to routinely lift 25 pounds Must be able to work in fast-paced environments Occasional overtime to meet business needs Must be conversant in English for safe and effective performance of the job Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
