Job Description Why This Role Matters: As a member of the BSE Team, the Electrical Engineer I supports and assists experienced engineers and other multidisciplined team members throughout the planning and design of a variety of projects. Those in this role assist in the design of building systems for projects across our practice areas, improving the built environment, and creating a more sustainable world in the process. Reporting to a Senior BSE Team Member, the BSE I participates in the production of associated project plans and specifications and provides oversight throughout the construction administration phase. You are moderately independent and work on projects of all project sizes and complexities. What You’ll Do: • Collect owner drawings and documentation, • Perform Codes and Standards review, • Set up and produce Revit drawings efficiently while using internal standards and templates, • Prepare drawings including plans, details, schematics, and schedules, • Review and understand existing drawings, determine limits of demolition work, and how new systems interconnect, • Perform site investigations and document existing conditions, • Implement changes to design or project documentation based on written or verbal descriptions from senior engineers, • Perform file management functions such as posting models, downloading model updates, and managing links, • Attend internal coordination meetings and communicate with other disciplines, • Attend client meetings along with senior team members and create meeting minutes, • Prepare draft engineering reports for review by senior staff, • Perform building condition evaluations and prepare reports, • Produces designs that have minimal QA/QC comments and minimal drawing presentation mistakes, • Avoids making repetitive design errors, • Demonstrates growth from project-to-project, • Prepare draft specifications, • Review and approve submittals with oversight, • Perform construction punch lists, • Perform accurate electrical load calculations to determine electrical system service and distribution system sizes, • Normal/emergency power, lighting, and systems design. Systems design includes the following: fire alarm, public address, nurse call, and tele/data., • Electrical equipment sizing and selections of panelboards and emergency power systems (generators and automatic transfer switches), • Electrical room layout considering fit, form, and function, • Utility company coordination, • Evaluate system types and review with senior staff, • Contact vendors for equipment selections and review selections for accuracy, • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, • A minimum of four (4) years of experience, • Professional Licensure, • An ability to perform difficult technical computations and consolidate acquired data, • Ability to interact effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines, • Familiarity with building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, lighting and low-voltage systems, and structural components, • Working knowledge of Revit and other relevant design programs, • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office tools, • Effective leadership, and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, • Engineering, analytical, and technical writing skills with attention to detail, • Healthcare for you and your family: Medical, Dental& Vision insurance.
