Position Overview The Geriatrics & Extended Care Service at our Spokane VA Healthcare System is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Geriatrics Board Certified Attending Physician for our Community Living Center (CLC). This role presents an opportunity to serve our nation's veterans while enjoying an excellent work-life balance. The CLC offers Nursing Home-level care for veterans requiring short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, dementia support, or hospice services. Key Responsibilities The Physician for the Community Living Center will be accountable for ensuring high-quality medical care for the assigned veteran population. Specific clinical duties include: • Evaluating patient histories, conducting examinations, and formulating care plans for CLC residents, while coordinating all assessments, diagnostic tests, and follow-up care., • Managing day-to-day operations of the CLC team in caring for veterans., • Fostering an environment of efficiency and accuracy in the timely submission of necessary documentation., • Collaborating with Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and various healthcare specialists to facilitate hospital admissions, post-discharge care, and specialty consultations as required., • Participating in the screening of veterans and completing consults for the CLC., • Being part of the on-call schedule for urgent veteran needs in the CLC after hours., • Engaging in interdisciplinary team meetings., • Taking on additional clinical responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics & Extended Care.Compensation and Benefits We offer a comprehensive rewards package, including: • Recruitment Incentive: Sign-on bonus available., • Salary: Competitive pay, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases., • Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually, including 26 days of vacation, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days for continuing medical education (CME)., • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with up to 5% contributions from the organization., • Insurance: Comprehensive health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care insurance options, many of which can be carried into retirement., • Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory., • CME: Up to $1,000 reimbursement per year (must be full-time and board certified)., • Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage included., • Contract: No employment contract restrictions on moonlighting., • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Eligible participants may receive up to $200,000 towards qualified loans over five years (not exceeding $40,000 per year), with reimbursement contingent on proof of payment.Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidates will have: • Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Board of Family Medicine, or Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine., • Experience in geriatrics or a fellowship, with a passion for working within a multidisciplinary team.About Our Organization The Spokane VA Medical Center, part of the Northwest Health Network, has been recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for delivering high-quality healthcare services that enhance health and improve life quality.
