Role Overview We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead our product engineering organization and deliver world-class digital experiences for members, physicians, and clinical teams. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, this role will oversee engineering teams responsible for Atria’s member portal, mobile applications, physician experience tools, internal clinical operations systems, and care coordination platforms. The VP Engineering will set the technical and organizational strategy for building secure, reliable, and polished healthcare technology products that reflect Atria’s commitment to quality and innovation. This leader must balance long-term platform scalability with the urgency of shipping at speed, ensuring internal-facing tools move quickly while member-facing experiences meet the highest bar of craftsmanship and usability. They will also play a critical role in modernizing engineering practices, championing the use of AI for software development, testing, and operational excellence. This is both a strategic and hands-on role: you will guide architecture and technical direction, scale a global engineering organization (with a mix of local and offshore resources), and foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration. Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Strategy • Set the vision and strategy for Atria’s product engineering function, aligning with organizational and product goals., • Oversee engineering teams across member experience, clinical experience, and care delivery domains., • Lead DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure rapid, reliable deployment of products into production., • Define engineering best practices, coding standards, and architecture principles to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability., • Incorporate AI-driven development practices (e.g., AI code assistants, automated QA, intelligent CI/CD optimizations) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality., • Ensure world-class execution on Atria’s digital products, including member portal, mobile apps, physician-facing systems, and care coordination tools., • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data & AI, and Clinical teams to define requirements and deliver impactful solutions., • Own the full lifecycle of product engineering: from prototyping and development through testing, release, and ongoing maintenance., • Champion consumer-grade polish and usability, setting a high bar for member-facing applications., • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering organization, including local and offshore teams., • Establish clear career development paths and foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and accountability., • Partner with HR and recruiting to attract top engineering talent aligned with Atria’s mission., • Stay close to the codebase and architecture decisions, reviewing critical designs and guiding technical tradeoffs., • Encourage innovation and experimentation with emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies as well as the use of AI-powered tools for code review, quality assurance, and developer productivity., • Ensure strong practices in testing, observability, performance optimization, and security., • Drive adoption of modern development workflows, including infrastructure as code, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines., • Serve as the primary engineering representative in executive leadership discussions., • Partner with the VP Product and VP Data & AI to align product strategy, data foundations, and AI innovation., • Communicate engineering priorities, challenges, and successes clearly to executive and non-technical stakeholders., • Represent Atria externally as a technical leader in healthcare innovation. Base Salary: $230,000 - $320,000 Requirements Requirements Hybrid role based in New York City, with 3 days/week in the office (Tuesday–Thursday). Experience & Expertise • 12+ years in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (VP, Director, or equivalent)., • Proven track record leading engineering teams in delivering polished consumer applications (web and mobile) at scale., • Strong technical depth in modern web and mobile frameworks, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure., • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)., • Familiarity with AI/ML tools applied to software engineering (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Codeium, Cursor) and a proven track record of integrating them into engineering workflows., • Familiarity with healthcare technology or regulated industries strongly preferred., • Strategic thinker who can balance long-term platform goals with the urgency of shipping quickly., • Strong communication and executive presence, able to represent engineering across the company and externally., • Ability to build consensus and align cross-functional stakeholders around engineering priorities., • Excited to deliver member-facing products with a consumer-grade level of polish., • Pragmatic and hands-on leader who enjoys engaging with code, architecture, and technical problem solving., • Desire to act as a catalyst for AI adoption in engineering, fostering a culture where teams experiment with and adopt the best AI-driven practices for development and QA., • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required., • Excellent health and wellness benefits, 100% paid by Atria effective as of date of hire, • Flexible Time Off, • 401k match at 4%, • Fitness Perks including Wellhub +, • Time to give back and make an impact in underserved communities
