Position Summary The Director of Development and Strategic Growth is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding CTE’s market presence through strategic business development, fundraising, and sales initiatives. This position oversees CTE’s grant application strategy, private fundraising and foundation partnerships, and internal business development programs. The Director of Development and Strategic Growth is accountable for identifying and securing new funding opportunities, strengthening client and member relationships, and building internal capabilities to support sustainable revenue growth. This role plays a critical part in positioning CTE for long-term success as a member of the Strategic Team. The Director of Development and Strategic Growth will also manage and evolve CTE’s Market Lead Program, which is designed to develop target markets, generate new revenue streams, and strengthen CTE’s understanding of customers, suppliers, technologies, and funding opportunities across key sectors. The role also leads the development of internal sales training programs and provides structured opportunities for staff to contribute to business development efforts. This position requires a highly strategic, focused leader who is comfortable engaging with clients, partners, and funders, while also building internal systems and programs that scale CTE’s business development capabilities. Responsibilities Business Development and Revenue Growth • Lead CTE’s overall business development strategy across all revenue streams, driving diversification and growth of the organization’s funding portfolio, • Identify, pursue, and secure new funding opportunities across federal, state, local, and private sources, including foundation partnerships and philanthropic programs, • Cultivate and steward relationships with clients, partners, members, and key industry stakeholders, • Travel regularly to represent CTE at conferences, industry events, and client meetings to expand organizational visibility and generate new opportunities, • Collaborate with technical experts and the Communications Team to develop compelling development collateral that convey CTE’s expertise, capabilities, and impact across multiple formats (presentations, briefs, annual reports, etc.), • Oversee the Grants Team, which is responsible for identifying, tracking, and submitting public funding opportunities, • Design, implement, and lead a structured program to build organization-wide business development capabilities, including training, clear pathways, expectations, and incentives for staff engagement Market Lead Program Oversight • Manage and evolve CTE’s Market Lead Program to support targeted market development and revenue generation, • Guide Market Leads in identifying customers, suppliers, technologies, funding sources, and strategic opportunities within each market, • Ensure alignment across departments to support market research, outreach, proposal development, and communications efforts, • Monitor performance, track leads, and ensure program deliverables (e.g., reports, outreach, conference participation) are achieved Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, or a related field, • Minimum 10 years of experience in business development, sales, fundraising, or a related field, • Demonstrated success generating significant revenue (multi-million-dollar scale) across multiple funding streams, including grants, partnerships, and client engagements, • Experience managing or leading teams and cross-functional initiatives, • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to travel approximately 25-35% for client meetings, industry events, and partner engagement, • Legally eligible to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications • Experience working in a consulting, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization, • Experience managing federal or state grant programs or proposal development efforts, • Background in private fundraising, foundation relations, or philanthropic program management, • Familiarity with clean transportation, energy, infrastructure, or related technical industries, • Experience developing or leading sales training programs or internal business development initiatives, • Experience with market analysis, strategic growth planning, or program development, • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM tools for pipeline management, reporting, and business development tracking, • Advanced degree in business, public policy, or a related field Salary Range • $170,000 - $220,000 Benefits Summary • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, • 401(k) match, • Flexible paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays, volunteer time), • Paid parental and family leave, • Hybrid/remote work and flexible scheduling (telework supported), • New hire mentorship program, • Professional development and education assistance, • Cell phone, parking, and commuter subsidies, • Computer equipment and software, • Employee wellness and community engagement programs, • Team events, social outings, and food & beverage perks, • Competitive benefits package valued at approximately $20,000+ annually How to Apply Please apply directly through LinkedIn.com or submit a current resume and cover letter to .
