Job Summary: The Retail Sales Associate & Bike Mechanic is responsible for both assisting customers in our retail store and performing light to moderate bike maintenance and assembly. This hybrid role combines customer-facing sales support with hands-on mechanical work, ensuring that every bike leaving our store is in top condition and every customer enjoys a seamless purchasing experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Customer Interaction: • Greet customers warmly and engage in conversations to understand their preferences and needs., • Provide knowledgeable and enthusiastic assistance to customers interested in e-bikes., • Conduct product demonstrations and test rides to showcase e-bike features and benefits. Product Knowledge: • Stay current on the latest e-bike models, technologies, and industry trends., • Clearly communicate technical specifications, advantages, and unique selling points of each model., • Assist customers in selecting the e-bike best suited for their lifestyle and needs. Sales Process: • Guide customers through the sales process, from initial inquiry to final purchase., • Provide accurate pricing information, explain financing options, and address customer concerns., • Upsell accessories and additional services to enhance the customer experience., • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals as outlined by management. Bike Maintenance & Mechanic Duties: • Perform basic repairs, maintenance, and tune-ups on e-bikes., • Assemble new e-bikes and prepare them for customer delivery., • Inspect bikes for safety and functionality., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop area. Customer Education: • Educate customers on e-bike benefits, including cost savings, health benefits, and sustainable transportation., • Demonstrate safe and proper use of bikes during test rides and demonstrations. Shop Cleanliness, Safety, and Organization: • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop floor, displays, and test ride areas., • Follow safety protocols for both customers and staff., • Assist in inventory management, including restocking, organizing, and keeping track of accessories and merchandise. Administrative Tasks: • Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system., • Maintain customer records and follow up post-visit to ensure satisfaction., • Support store events and promotions as needed. Team Collaboration: • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and cohesive work environment., • Share insights on customer preferences and market trends with management., • Work closely with the store manager and sales team on in-store programs and sales initiatives. Qualifications: • Previous retail sales experience, ideally in cycling, outdoor recreation, or a related industry., • Basic knowledge of bike maintenance and repair; e-bike experience preferred., • Passion for sustainable transportation and understanding of e-bike technology., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet sales targets., • Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills., • Ability to lift and maneuver bikes and parts safely. Working Conditions: This role primarily involves working in a retail environment, including weekends and holidays. Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting/moving e-bikes as needed (80+ lbs). The candidate should also be committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
