Job DescriptionJob Title: 2nd Shift TIG Welder Job Description This position supports a fast-paced, high-volume production line by performing TIG welding on black carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe assemblies. You will weld flanges and elbows, complete full-penetration welds through all phases, and maintain repeatable, high-quality welds while meeting defined cycle time and takt time targets. The role is ideal for welders who enjoy line-driven, repetitive work and can consistently deliver precise welds under time constraints. Responsibilities • Perform TIG welding on black carbon steel pipe up to 8 inches, including 4-inch pipe assemblies and carbon steel to stainless-steel welds., • Weld elbows and flanges that connect to compressors, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent joints., • Complete welds through all three welding phases: root pass, fill pass, and cover cap., • Properly prepare materials for welding, including grinding, beveling, and cleaning to ensure weld-ready surfaces., • Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, including wire-fed machines, in accordance with production specifications., • Maintain consistent weld quality while working on a moving production line with a strong focus on takt time and cycle time., • Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures at all times., • Work efficiently in a line-driven, repetitive production environment rather than a custom or job-shop setting., • Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals., • Participate in and successfully complete weld tests, including black steel welds, as part of the qualification process.Essential Skills, • Proven TIG welding experience with black carbon steel., • Proven TIG welding experience with stainless steel., • Demonstrated ability to weld dissimilar metals, specifically carbon steel to stainless steel., • Extensive and recent experience with steel welding, including successful completion of weld tests., • Strong understanding of pipe preparation, including grinding, beveling, and fit-up for flanges and elbows., • Proficiency in performing root, fill, and cap weld techniques to production standards., • Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing weld quality., • Understanding of takt time and cycle time within a manufacturing or production environment., • Experience working on or alongside a moving production line in a high-speed, production-focused setting., • Ability to perform TIG welding using a wire-fed machine., • Capability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistency.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Comfort working in a non-custom, non-job-shop welding environment focused on repeatable processes., • Ability to adapt to a line-driven workflow and maintain quality under time constraints., • Willingness to train initially on first shift before transitioning to second shift., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards., • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a production team.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility with industry 4.0 technology and a moving production line focused on speed, efficiency, and repeatability. The role is on second shift, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with a 10% shift differential, and requires initial training on first shift. There is currently mandatory overtime on Fridays to meet production deadlines. The environment is line-driven rather than custom or job-shop, with repetitive tasks and defined takt time and cycle time expectations. The position requires the ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb portable ladders as needed. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential. Personal protective equipment is required and provided in accordance with safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
