Job Description Home Helpers Home Care of Durham & Chapel Hill is preparing to launch, and we are building a professional, compassionate caregiving team to support our clients once services begin. We are seeking experienced Personal Care Assistants who want more than just a task-based caregiving role—caregivers who value quality, consistency, and meaningful client relationships. Our agency takes a holistic approach to care, supporting not only physical needs but also safety, emotional well-being, cognitive engagement, and companionship. We are intentionally creating an environment where caregivers are respected as professionals, supported with training and tools, and thoughtfully matched with clients. Because we are currently in the pre-licensure phase, direct client care hours will begin after state licensure is approved. We are hiring now so caregivers can be onboarded, trained, and first in line for client assignments when services begin. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ONCE LICENSED) Personal Care Assistance • Bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and shampoos, • Dressing and undressing, • Toileting assistance, • Skin care and prevention of skin breakdown, • Planning and preparing nutritious meals, • Assisting with feeding when needed, • Assisting with ambulation and prescribed exercises, • Performing range-of-motion activities within training limits, • Monitoring and reporting changes in client condition, • Ensuring safe use of equipment and home environments In accordance with North Carolina regulations, Personal Care Assistants do not perform skilled nursing services including: 1. administering medications, 2. taking physician orders, and 3. performing sterile or invasive procedures. This role focuses exclusively on non-medical personal care and support. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Certified Home Health Aide, or demonstrated competency per agency policy, • At least 18 years of age, • Ability to read, follow care plans, and document services accurately, • Empathy, patience, and professionalism, • Ability to work independently while following supervision guidelines, • Flexible schedule that will allow on-call and weekend work, • Current CPR certification, • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (or dependable alternative transportation) This position is ideal for caregivers who: • Take pride in professionalism and accountability, • Enjoy learning and expanding their skill set, • Value accurate documentation and communication, • Want more engaging, thoughtful care assignments, • Be part of a new agency built with intention and respect, • Early hire advantage with priority scheduling, • Supportive leadership and clear communication, • Training and tools that make your work easier—not harder Please submit your resume and a brief note describing your caregiving experience and areas of interest (including any specialty experience, if applicable).
