THE OPPORTUNITY Brooklyn Justice Initiatives (BJI), the largest operating project of the Center, seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Brooklyn, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Kings County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, BJI is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming and receive referrals to services such as job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. BJI is seeking a Supervising Case Manager for the borough’s Supervised Release Program (SRP) to supervise our case management and field engagement staff who are based in the community. Reporting to the Case Management Coordinator, the Supervising Case Manager will be responsible for providing substantive and consistent trauma-informed supervision to Case Managers, Senior Case Managers, and Community Navigators to ensure fidelity to the program model and quality service to participants in the community. Supervising Case Managers ensure that staff complete program-specific training, consistently apply policy, protocol, and best practices in alignment with that training, maintain routine and accurate data entry and court reporting, and collaborate effectively across SRP teams to build on successes and proactively address challenges. REPORTING RELATINOSHIPS: This position reports to the Accounting Manager. However, the Senior Revenue Accountant will regularly interact with the VP, Controller and the Assistant Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting. The Senior Revenue Accountant will also have frequent contact with program staff, the Development team, and other external parties to ensure proper grant management and financial compliance. JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for leading all core accounting functions related to grants, contracts, billing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with nonprofit GAAP, ASC 606 and ASC 842 standards, and fund accounting rules. The Senior Revenue Accountant supervises one accounting team member, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management. The position collaborates cross-functionally with Development, Program, Compliance, and Finance teams and plays a key role in audit preparation and compliance activities.
