Job DescriptionRole and Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day operations of the shop, including fabrication, welding, equipment repair, and maintenance., • Supervise shop technicians and craftsmen, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards., • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and warehouse staff to prioritize work orders and fulfill job site material/equipment needs., • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for company tools, vehicles, and equipment used in industrial applications., • Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of materials including hazardous substances such as resins, adhesives, and coatings., • Maintain accurate records of shop activities, equipment servicing, repairs, inspections, and inventory usage., • Monitor tool and equipment condition; coordinate repair or replacement as necessary to maintain operational readiness., • Enforce compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company-specific safety protocols within the shop environment., • Lead training and development of shop staff on technical skills, safety practices, and quality standards., • Participate in capital planning and budget preparation for shop needs and improvements.Qualifications and Education Requirements, • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in industrial trades, mechanical systems, or manufacturing preferred., • 5+ years of experience in a fabrication, maintenance, or industrial shop environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role., • Strong working knowledge of tools, equipment, and processes used in corrosion protection., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and material specifications., • Proficiency in using basic computer systems for work order tracking, inventory management, and communication., • Experience with welding, cutting, rigging, or rubber lining processes is highly advantageous., • Proven leadership and team management skills. Physical Requirements • Mobility: Must be able to move around the shop floor freely, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders or platforms., • Lifting Requirements: Frequently required to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier loads with assistance or equipment., • Manual Dexterity: Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machinery safely and precisely., • Environmental Tolerance: Regular exposure to heat, noise, dust, fumes, and industrial materials in both indoor and outdoor shop settings., • Vision and Hearing: Adequate (with or without correction) to perform inspections, operate equipment, and identify hazards or safety warnings., • PPE Usage: Must wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, and protective clothing as required., • Stamina: Ability to work extended hours, including weekends or overtime, during critical project preparation periods., • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
