Job DescriptionDescription: Position Summary The Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, and supporting students’ academic, social, and personal growth in alignment with school, district, and state standards. This role includes effective lesson planning, classroom management, assessment of student progress, collaboration with colleagues and families, participation in school activities, and adherence to all applicable policies and regulations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards and school curriculum., • Use varied instructional strategies to engage diverse learners and promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning., • Differentiate instruction and provide accommodation for students with varied needs, including ESE and ESOL learners., • Assess student learning through formal and informal assessments; provide timely feedback to students and families., • Integrate technology and digital platforms to enhance instruction and student engagement., • Design and implement instructional practices that engage students in independent and collaborative learning through active, hands-on, and discussion-based strategies., • Differentiate instruction by incorporating culturally responsive strategies and selecting appropriate instructional resources to meet the varied needs of all students., • Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment that supports positive behavior and learning., • Supervise students at all times; ensure no student is left unsupervised., • Model professional behavior, appearance, and ethical standards., • Implement emergency plans during drills and real situations in accordance with school procedures., • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress, behavior, and support needs., • Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS, and other student support processes., • Share instructional strategies, skills, and resources with colleagues; engage in peer observations and professional collaboration., • Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, parent meetings, and school events., • Maintain accurate and timely records of communication with parents/guardians in accordance with school expectations., • Actively contribute to grade-level, content-area, and student support team meetings (e.g., PLCs, MTSS) to promote collaboration and shared accountability for student success., • Participate in after-school programs such as tutoring, clubs, and activities as assigned., • Be prepared to fulfill supervision duties (hallway, bus, cafeteria, assemblies, and extracurricular events) to ensure student safety and order, even if not assigned daily., • Cover classes when substitutes are unavailable due to emergencies, as assigned by administration., • Use RCSA Connect daily to record, monitor, and communicate student academic and behavioral information; ensure the platform is kept up to date., • Uphold confidentiality regarding student and family information., • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, grades, and reports, in accordance with school and district policies., • Follow all school, district, state, and federal rules, laws and regulations regarding education, safety, and reporting., • Fulfill assigned supervisory, extracurricular, and co-curricular responsibilities, including field trips, academic fairs, and after-school events, demonstrating reliability and professionalism in supporting school programs and student activities., • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Education or related field., • Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate (Letter of Eligibility, Temporary Certificate, or Professional Certificate)., • Successful completion of Level 2 background screening as required by Florida law. Preferred Qualifications • Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate, • Endorsements or certifications in ESOL, Reading, or Gifted Education., • Experience working in a K–12 charter or public-school setting., • Training as a Clinical Educator or mentor teacher. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and classroom management practices., • Understanding of child development, learning differences, and engagement strategies., • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to integrate technology into instruction and recordkeeping., • Effective oral and written communication skills with students, families, staff, and the community., • Commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth., • Commitment to maintaining a growth mindset, demonstrating openness to feedback, coaching, and professional learning opportunities., • Ability to reflect on instructional practices, accept constructive criticism, and implement changes to improve student outcomes and overall effectiveness., • Ability to analyze and use student performance data to monitor progress, identify trends, set goals, and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements • Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently., • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as required in a classroom and school setting., • Work primarily indoors in classrooms; some outdoor supervision (e.g., recess, dismissal, events) is required., • Moderate noise level, with higher levels during assemblies, recess, lunch or group activities., • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation., • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in fulfilling assigned supervisory and school duties (e.g., cafeteria, hallway, bus, extracurricular events)., • Ability to maintain timely and professional communication with families and colleagues through approved school platforms. Reporting Relationships • Reports to: Principal or designated school administrator., • Works closely with: Teachers, instructional support staff, and student services teams. Terms of Employment • Ten-month position: hours and work year follow the school calendar., • Salary and benefits are established annually in accordance with the school’s compensation plan., • Performance evaluated according to school policy and Florida teacher evaluation standards.
