Job Description Position Summary Hamilton-Madison House (HMH) is the leading provider of behavioral health services for New York City’s Asian community and the second largest provider in the country. HMH serves nearly 1,000 community members through a comprehensive program model that understands and incorporates the strengths of individual cultures and addresses the stigma related to mental illness. Services range from psychological services; personalized recovery-oriented services for individuals with mental illness; recovery programming for addiction in six languages and seven dialects; supportive housing for people with mental health issues; and training and internship opportunities for graduate students in social work, mental health counseling, and psychology. Our team of over 40 full-time and 16 part-time staff speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian. The Vocational Specialist provides vocational services to individuals living with mental illnesses to help them achieve their vocational goals and recovery in the Personalized Recovery Oriented Services program. The individual will coordinate the vocation and employment component of the program. The position also may include carrying a small caseload of direct clinical work as needed in the program. Summary: The Maintenance Helper will handle and perform a variety of non-technical, non-licensed mechanical, electrical maintenance, HVAC, painting, carpentry, custodial, plumbing, general repair, and other handyperson tasks related to overall building maintenance for a new mixed-use residential and commercial building in Flushing, Queens. The Maintenance Helper will report to, and work under the direct supervision of the Facility Manager. Responsibilities: • Performs minor repairs including carpentry, painting, surface touch-ups, tiling, and flooring., • Identifies and reports any deficiencies in residential units or the building., • Changes locks, re-keys, and makes key copies as directed., • Reports all accidents and any illegal activities to management in a timely way., • Supervises any third-party contractors and utility companies as needed., • Properly documents and details completed work orders., • Completes any other tasks as assigned by the Property Coordinator., • Maintains a working relationship with tenants at all times., • Extensive experience in painting buildings is required., • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general maintenance, caretaking, mechanical, electrical and/or equipment and building repairs., • Attention to detail., • Positive attitude and good communication skills, both verbal and written., • Availability to work in shifts and with flexible schedules (e.g. weekends and evenings)., • Bilingual is a plus, English/Spanish, English/Chinese, or English/Korean.
