Job DescriptionDescription: Fincantieri Marine Systems North America has an immediate hiring need for a Quality Assurance Inspector for our Mayport location in Atlantic Beach, FL. This is a 1st shift role, Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm, with occasional 2nd shift responsibilities. This position is ideal for someone certified as an ASNDT Level II Inspector with experience in MT/PT/VT/UT/RT and auditing. Position Summary The Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) will assist with the development, review, and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, plans, and work instructions, communicating QMS requirements to all FMSNA staff, customers, and regulatory bodies, reporting any deficiencies, and developing corrective action plans with process owners. The QAI will provide input with corrective actions on quality metrics determined by analyzing test results, leading root cause analysis, and ensuring incoming and outgoing products meet requirements. Dometic travel may be required. Duties and Responsibilities • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Enforce strict compliance with SNT-TC-1A, OSHA, and state/local regulations with all NDT activities within the shipyards (including external partners), using various tools (calipers, micrometers, deep mics, bore gages, etc.). Develop and execute NDT training., • Audits and Inspection: Conduct routine safety inspections to verify the presence and functionality of fire prevention, equipment readiness, and first-aid supplies. Ensure compliance with NDT practices, licensing, and safety standards through internal and external audits., • Safety and Quality: Maximize safety awareness from job hazard analyses conducted and resolve quality issues related to material inspections at checkpoint notifications, identifying defects, such as weld and base metal defects, even where limited standardization exists., • Compliance and Documentation: Manage NDT qualification compliance, staying updated on certifications as required by regulatory and FMSNA changes. Create and maintain NSI 009-04 compliant test and inspection plans (TIPs) and reports (RRs) in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD). Submit Objective Quality Evidence (OQE), process NCRs, log nonconformances, and recommend process improvements. Requirements: • Proficient in interpreting technical documents, including blueprints, specifications, work orders, contracts, and schematics in various formats (written, oral, diagram, schedule)., • Must have ability to read and interpret ISO, OSHA, NAVSEA standard Items, and state/local regulations., • Experience with Flushing, Cofferdam, and 5XXX Aluminum Process Control requirements., • Experience with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and 3M systems, scheduling via SKED, executing MRCs/MIPs, and controlling Level I material packages for compliance with Navy readiness standards., • Must have experience with ISO 9001:2015, NAVSEA, ABS, USCG, and commercial standards., • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, and working knowledge of project management software., • Must have strong organizational, time-management, written, and verbal communication skills., • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor., • Associate degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience., • 2+ Years of Quality Assurance experience required, safety experience preferred.
