Job Description Human Resource Manager In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) Albany, NY | Full-Time | On-Site Reports To: Fiscal Director General Statement of Duties The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the administration, coordination, and oversight of employee benefit programs and core human resources functions. This role provides strategic and operational HR support to the organization by ensuring effective benefits administration, regulatory compliance, employee relations, and workforce support. The Human Resource Manager serves as a trusted resource to staff and leadership while maintaining a positive, professional, and compliant workplace environment. Role & Responsibilities The Human Resource Manager must effectively carry out all essential duties and responsibilities in a manner that consistently demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and a positive, service-oriented approach. Additional duties may be assigned as organizational needs evolve. Benefits Administration • Administer all employee benefit programs, including but not limited to health insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, disability coverage, workers’ compensation, and voluntary benefits, • Manage 401(k) participant notifications, eligibility tracking, enrollments, contributions, and plan changes, • Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure timely updates related to employee eligibility, life events, and employment status changes, • Provide comprehensive benefits presentations to new hires during onboarding and orientation, • Distribute enrollment materials, explain benefit options and eligibility requirements, and ensure accurate and timely benefit elections, • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate processing of 401(k) eligibility, deductions, and employee contributions, • Interpret and administer FMLA, ADA, and disability-related leave in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, • Process, track, and manage all leave of absence requests and related documentation, • Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all human resource files and records, • Process and maintain employee status changes, separations, and terminations, • Accurately track and administer employee paid time off (PTO) balances and usage Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and human resources administration, • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision, • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage change in a dynamic environment, • Excellent employee relations, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, • Strong computer proficiency, including HRIS and database systems, • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail Education & Experience • Associate’s degree required with a minimum of 2–3 years of human resources experience, • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred Additional Requirements • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license, • Reliable and independent means of transportation Physical Demands • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, • Ability to perform repetitive tasks including typing and document handling Working Conditions • Office-based role with prolonged sitting and extensive computer use, • Close visual acuity required for detailed computer-based work, • Frequent interaction with colleagues, vendors, and external partners via phone and email, • Primarily quiet office environment with the ability to sit for extended periods, with periodic breaks to move and stretchCompany DescriptionIn Our Own Voices, Inc.
