Over the course of this immersive, unpaid program (offered for academic credit only), interns will gain meaningful insight into the world of book publishing while contributing to real projects that drive our business forward. You’ll learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills in your area of interest, and participate in opportunities designed to broaden your understanding of the publishing industry. Our goal is to help prepare the next generation of publishing talent while fostering a passion for books, art, and culture. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a student interested in digital marketing, social media strategy, and consumer engagement within a leading trade publishing company. The Digital & Social Media Intern will work closely with the ABRAMS Digital and Social Media teams on projects spanning the creation, execution, and performance analysis of book-specific and event-driven campaigns. In this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience supporting major publishing brands such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Lightlark Saga, as well as titles for children and adults created in partnership with Marvel, Lucasfilm, Netflix, and other major licensors. This internship provides exposure to both creative and analytical aspects of digital marketing while offering insight into how publishing brands connect with audiences across platforms. What you’d be doing: • Assisting with copywriting for social media and other digital marketing materials, • Routing, organizing, and maintaining social media and digital assets, • Coordinating consumer and influencer mailings, • Participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing creative ideas, • Conducting audience and consumer research, • Updating and maintaining departmental organizational documents, • Assisting with the evaluation and reporting of ROI for performance marketing campaigns, • Learning strategies to maximize engagement and drive conversion across digital platforms, • Learning and networking with ABRAMS employees, publishing professionals, and fellow interns during a summer internship experience for academic credit, • Gaining hands-on exposure to the publishing industry, from concept to finished product, • Supporting research, project work, and day-to-day tasks within your assigned department, • Contributing ideas and providing creative input on department projects, • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and learning about various areas of the publishing business, • Participating in workshops and discussions designed to deepen your understanding of publishing trends and processes, • Receiving coaching, mentorship, and feedback from experienced ABRAMS professionals We’re looking for someone who has/is: • Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus/major in English, Communications, Marketing, or Publishing, • Have an interest in pursuing a career in publishing and a passion for books, • Have an interest in social media and digital marketing, • Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite, with strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro, • Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, a plus, • Exhibit a keen eye for detail and demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, • Possess excellent writing and communication skills and work well in a collaborative team environment, • Compensation: For credit only; must be enrolled in a college program offering internship credit., • Location: New York, NY, and follows a hybrid schedule, working 20 to 35 hours per week.
