Submit your application for the opportunity below:EMT - Ambulance Job Summary and Qualifications An EMT functions as a primary care provider in the out-of-hospital setting. The EMT is responsible for all aspects of care provided to the sick and injured. The EMT provides basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of the automatic defibrillator and assisting patients with taking some of their own medications as protocol allows. The EMT is responsible for driving the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner under all conditions. The EMT must have a thorough knowledge of the street, highway and addressing systems in which he or she will be working. The EMT must understand all applicable legal, moral, and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical service environment. The EMT should be dedicated to continued learning through continuing education and maintenance of licensures and certifications. The EMT should have minimum mechanical knowledge of the ambulance and be able to troubleshoot when issues arise. Maintain a competent working knowledge of the applicable Patient Care Guidelines. • Mandatory attendance at any assigned continuing education offerings such as HRLF (high risk, low frequency) skills sessions., • Reliable and consistent attendance is a requirement and essential function of this position. It is expected that staff will be punctual and dependable. Staff are expected to work as scheduled., • Exhibit courteous, compassionate, respectful treatment of all patients and co-workers. • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude in respect to all patients, peers, customers, and co-workers., • Conduct all activities while in HCA uniform or any off-duty HCA gear in a manner that will promote positive and professional relations with responding agencies, guests of HCA and its customers., • Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working for or representing the organization or any aspect of HCA., • Complies with HCA policy and procedures., • Completes all assigned company training within the timeframe given., • The EMT must be confident and accept the challenge and high degree of responsibility entailed in this position. The EMT must have excellent judgment, be able to prioritize decisions, and act quickly in the best interest of the patient. The EMT must be able to function at an optimum level in a non-structured environment that is constantly changing. The EMT must be able to remain calm while working in difficult, unstructured, uncontrolled, potentially dangerous, and stressful situations, and stay focused while carrying out the functions of the position. Good judgment is essential, along with knowledge and technical skills. The EMT must possess excellent verbal communication skills and be capable of adapting to situations with violence and emotional instability in multicultural settings. The EMT must possess critical reasoning skills and be capable of applying them effectively in stressful situations. ∗ Replace supplies as needed, check all equipment for readiness. Maintain the ambulance in operable condition, ensure ambulance cleanliness and decontaminates. Determine readiness by checking oil, gas and tire pressure.
