Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/30/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 30, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care hospital setting in a PCU/Stepdown unit with 28 beds, • Patient population includes adults presenting through the ED with mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke diagnoses, • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with patient care techs available at a 1:14 ratio, • RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry monitoring independently; telemetry techs are available on the unit, • RNs are required to titrate drips, including heparin, octreotide, and insulin, as well as administer maintenance IV medications, • Specialty equipment available includes code carts, LUCAS machines, Hoyer lifts, and Sit-and-Stand devices, • Charting is done in Epic, • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700); 6-week scheduling block managed by unit schedulers, • Every other weekend required, • Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff, • Float requirement to Med/Surg and other hospital areas, including ICU and ED, based on abilities, • Charge nurse present on each shift and carries an assignmentRequirements, • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — pending certifications not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Epic EMR experience applicable to this PCU setting, • Ability to read and interpret telemetry monitoring independently, • Driver's license required for consideration, used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius, • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleAdditional Information, • This is a high-volume unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges — the facility is seeking team-oriented nurses who thrive in a fast-paced environment, • Unit support includes a unit secretary 2–3 days per week and a stocking clerk 3 days per week, • Orientation consists of one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation, • A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required to continue the assignment, • Navy blue scrubs are required, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to termination of contract, • Candidates who are currently or were recently (within the past year) employed full time, part time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
