Job Description Job Title: Inventory Order Picker / Forklift Operator Job Description This role combines inventory control, order picking, and safe operation of material handling equipment in a clean, modern warehouse environment. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials and finished goods, while also performing picking, packing, loading, unloading, and inventory-related tasks to support efficient warehouse and manufacturing operations. Responsibilities • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move raw materials and shipping goods around the manufacturing and warehouse floors., • Use a ride-along pallet jack and other material handling equipment to transport products and pallets as needed., • Retrieve product stored at heights up to 2–3 floors using appropriate equipment and safety practices., • Load and unload trailers and trucks, ensuring products are handled carefully and placed in the correct locations., • Pick, select, and stage orders accurately based on manifests, work orders, and inventory requirements., • Pack screws, bolts, fasteners, and other items according to packing instructions and quality standards., • Wrap pallets manually or using a wrapping machine to secure loads for storage or shipment., • Use RF scanners or similar devices to support inventory activities such as picking, order picking, and stock movement (if applicable)., • Handle inventory tasks including counting, tracking, and moving stock, and support inventory control processes., • Work in close quarters with other equipment and personnel while maintaining high safety standards., • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily warehouse and material handling duties., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all warehouse safety policies and procedures., • Support additional warehouse tasks as needed, including material handling, packing, wrapping, loading, unloading, and general order picking. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of forklift operating experience within the past 2 years., • Proven experience operating a forklift in close quarters and around other equipment and personnel., • At least 1 year of experience as a material handler or in a similar warehouse role., • Ability to safely operate a ride-along pallet jack for order picking and material movement., • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures when operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment., • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Consistent and reliable attendance history in prior roles., • Experience with order picking, selecting, and handling wrapped pallets., • Ability to perform packing, wrapping, loading, unloading, and general material handling tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience using RF scanners for picking, inventory, or order processing., • Experience working with scan guns or from manifests and work orders for inventory tasks., • Previous experience packing screws, bolts, fasteners, or similar small components., • Experience using a wrapping machine to secure pallets., • Experience in warehouse, inventory, or manufacturing environments., • Comfort operating stand-up equipment or order pickers (if required by specific tasks). Work Environment This position is based in a newer, very clean warehouse and manufacturing environment. You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role involves operating a forklift approximately 40–60% of the time, with the remaining 40–60% spent on tasks such as picking, packing, loading, unloading, wrapping pallets, and general material handling. You will work in close quarters with other equipment and personnel, and you will regularly lift up to 50 lbs. The environment is safety-focused, with regular use of forklifts, ride-along pallet jacks, RF scanners (where applicable), and wrapping equipment. Appropriate work attire suitable for a warehouse setting is expected, including clothing and footwear that support safe and active work on the warehouse floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Agawam, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
