Located in the heart of South Austin, you’ll enjoy live music, dining, and outdoor activities while advancing your cardiac ICU nursing career.\n \n\nJob Details\n\n • Position: Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift (Cardiac ICU nurse, Critical Care RN)\n, • Location: Austin, TX 78704 (Austin travel nurse opportunity, Texas nursing jobs)\n, • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570 - $1650\n, • Contract Length: 13 weeks\n, • Start Date: February 23, 2026\n, • End Date: May 25, 2026\n, • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)\n, • Hours per Week: 36\n, • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun)\n, • Unit: 8-bed CVICU (cardiac intensive care unit)\n, • Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 1:1\n, • Dress Code: Navy scrubs\n, • Electronic Medical Record: Meditech (Meditech EMR experience preferred)\n, • Openings: 1\n\n\nJob Requirements\n\n, • License: Active RN license (state requirements apply)\n, • Experience: Minimum 1 year recent CVICU, ICU, or critical care RN experience (cardiac ICU experience preferred)\n, • Required: ECMO experience (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) — ECMO RN experience required\n, • Clinical Skills:\n \n, • Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation (telemetry / arrhythmia recognition)\n, • Titration of critical care drips (vasoactive, sedative, analgesic infusions)\n, • Hemodynamic monitoring and management (arterial lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz familiarity)\n, • Respiratory management: ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomy care, high-flow/airvo\n, • Open heart surgery recovery and post-operative cardiac care\n, • Mechanical circulatory support: Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), other devices\n, • Renal replacement therapy: CRRT/SLED experience\n \n \n, • Preferred: CVICU charge nurse experience\n, • Professional Fit: Team player with a positive attitude, adaptable to fast-paced critical care and travel nursing assignments\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n, • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU (cardiac ICU).\n, • Manage and monitor patients on ECMO and other advanced life-support modalities (ECMO RN responsibilities).\n, • Interpret cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data, escalating changes to the team and providers as needed.\n, • Titrate vasoactive, sedative, and analgesic infusions per protocol while ensuring patient safety.\n, • Support care for patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and renal replacement therapies.\n, • Assist with respiratory management for ventilated and high-acuity patients, including intubation and tracheostomy care.\n, • Collaborate closely with physicians, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize cardiac critical care outcomes.\n, • Support bedside procedures (central line/chest tube insertion, bronchoscopies, tracheostomies, intubation) and provide post-procedure monitoring.\n GHR Healthcare Job ID #457670.
