Job Description We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) as a vital member of our healthcare team responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by supporting physicians, nurse practitioners, and other licensed providers. The CMA performs both clinical and administrative duties, ensuring efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient service. This position requires current medical assistant certification and demonstrated competence in clinical procedures, EMR usage, and patient interaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities • Greet and room patients, record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, BMI, oxygen saturation)., • Collect medical history, medication lists, allergies, and reason for visit (chief complaint)., • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during exams, minor procedures, and in-office testing., • Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider and within scope of certification., • Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., glucose, strep, urinalysis, EKGs) and collect specimens for laboratory testing., • Ensure all specimens are labeled and processed per protocol., • Sterilize instruments and maintain clean and stocked exam rooms in accordance with infection control standards., • Schedule patient follow-ups, diagnostic tests, and referrals as instructed., • Perform medication prior authorizations and refill requests via provider-approved protocol., • Manage incoming phone calls and electronic messages related to patient care., • Coordinate prescription requests with pharmacies and patients as needed., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Current CMA certification from an accredited agency (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA). If you do not have your certification, will consider 4+ years of experience. Must get certification within 6 months of hire date., • Orthopedic Experience, • Familiarity with coding practices related to medical billing is advantageous., • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR); experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW), Epic, or similar required., • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory., • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate patient records. Physical Requirements • Able to stand or walk for extended periods., • Able to lift or move up to 25 pounds occasionally., • Fast-paced clinical environment with frequent patient interaction., • May be exposed to bodily fluids, chemicals, and infectious diseases (proper PPE provided)., • Patient-Centered Care: Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and responsiveness in patient interactions., • Clinical Accuracy: Performs procedures with precision and attention to detail., • Team Collaboration: Works well with providers, peers, and administrative staff., • Reliability: Completes assigned tasks timely and follows through on commitments.
