Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift (Level 3 / Level 4 Growth Opportunity) Job Description This role operates within a precision manufacturing facility that produces machined components for the aerospace and defense industry, including actuators, switches, pumps, valves, and other complex parts. The CNC Machinist will set up, operate, and perform program edits on multi-axis CNC equipment to produce high-quality components to exact specifications while supporting a strong safety and quality culture. Responsibilities • Set up and operate 3–5 axis CNC machines, including Moriseiki, Mazak, and Nakamura equipment, to produce precision aerospace and defense components., • Perform CNC machining operations on aluminum and other materials, including occasional exotic alloys, while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality finishes., • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining processes, tooling requirements, and setup parameters., • Perform program edits at the machine using G-code and Fanuc controls to optimize processes, improve quality, and resolve machining issues., • Set up and run both mill and lathe CNC equipment, including CNC lathes, to machine complex parts and features., • Use precision measuring tools to inspect parts during and after machining to verify dimensions and tolerances meet specification., • Conduct first article inspections to validate initial production runs and ensure parts conform to customer and internal requirements., • Perform deburring operations to remove sharp edges, burrs, and imperfections from machined components while preserving dimensional accuracy., • Work with castings and other raw materials, ensuring proper workholding, fixturing, and machining approaches for each type of material., • Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout production runs, making adjustments as needed to maintain consistency and throughput., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with a highly safety-focused manufacturing environment., • Collaborate with team members, maintenance personnel, and leadership to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement., • Follow established procedures, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing requirements., • Support training and knowledge sharing within the team as skill level and experience increase, contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented culture.Essential Skills, • Hands-on experience with CNC machining in a production environment, including set ups and operation of multi-axis equipment., • Proficiency with 3–5 axis CNC machines such as Moriseiki, Mazak, and Nakamura., • Experience working with aluminum and other metals, including the ability to adapt to machining occasional exotic materials., • Ability to perform CNC programming or program edits at the machine using G-code., • Experience working with Fanuc controls and understanding of Fanuc-based CNC systems., • Demonstrated ability to operate CNC lathes and related turning equipment., • Proficiency using precision measuring tools (such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to verify part dimensions and tolerances., • Experience performing first article inspections to validate initial production parts., • Hands-on deburring experience to finish machined components to specification., • Experience working with castings, including proper fixturing and machining techniques., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions., • Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift hours as the primary schedule.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments., • Familiarity with machining exotic materials and complex geometries., • Comfort working in a highly safety-conscious and quality-driven organization., • Interest in progressing from a Level 3 role into a Level 4 position as skills and performance develop., • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with peers and supervisors., • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machining and process issues.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a temperature-controlled aerospace manufacturing facility equipped with 62 CNC machines and a dedicated maintenance team. The primary schedule is 2nd shift, from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with 1st shift running from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; the focus for this role is on filling 2nd shift needs. Overtime on Saturdays is available but not mandatory, providing flexibility in work-life balance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
