The organization is currently undergoing a significant transformation focused on operational excellence, process improvement, technology modernization, geographic expansion, and strategic growth initiatives. As part of this evolution, the company is seeking a finance leader who can bring greater forecasting capabilities, financial discipline, and strategic insight to a growing construction platform. This role offers the opportunity to work directly alongside executive leadership and ownership while helping shape the future financial infrastructure of the business. The successful candidate will serve as both a hands-on leader and strategic business partner, with a clear path toward a future CFO position as the company continues to scale. Responsibilities • Lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing self-perform construction organization, • Manage and develop the accounting team across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, compliance, benefits administration, and general accounting functions, • Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, including 13-week cash flow forecasting and long-term liquidity planning, • Provide executive leadership with proactive financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations related to cash flow, working capital, and business performance, • Partner closely with operations, project management, and estimating teams to improve financial visibility across projects, • Oversee job costing, work-in-progress reporting, construction billing, collections, retainage, and change order tracking, • Support banking relationships, asset-based lending facilities, equipment financing, and lender reporting requirements, • Lead monthly close, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes, • Drive process improvement initiatives and help establish scalable financial controls, systems, and reporting structures, • Play a key role in evaluating, selecting, and implementing future ERP and financial technology solutions, • Support strategic growth initiatives, organizational expansion, and long-term business planning efforts, • Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and executive leadership on financial and operational matters. What We're Looking For • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within construction environments, • Strong experience supporting self-perform contractors, heavy civil construction firms, specialty contractors, infrastructure companies, excavation contractors, foundation contractors, or similar organizations, • Deep understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, billing cycles, change orders, and cash flow forecasting, • Experience leading accounting teams and managing day-to-day finance operations, • Hands-on experience with construction ERP systems such as Sage 300 CRE, Acumatica, Viewpoint, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms, • Prior involvement in ERP implementations, upgrades, or business systems transformations preferred, • Experience working with asset-based lending facilities, equipment financing, and banking relationships preferred, • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, • CPA designation is a plus but not required, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with significant autonomy and visibility. Culture & Leaderships This organization is built by builders. Leadership values accountability, initiative, responsiveness, and a hands-on mentality. The environment is highly entrepreneurial, with leaders empowered to make decisions, drive improvements, and take ownership of outcomes. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions-oriented, and energized by the opportunity to help scale a growing business rather than simply maintain the status quo. Why This Opportunity This is a rare opportunity to join an established construction company at a pivotal stage of growth. You'll work directly with ownership and executive leadership, help modernize the finance function, influence key strategic decisions, and build the financial infrastructure necessary to support significant expansion.
