Strategic Partnerships Assistant (US) Location: New York, NY (Hybrid: primarily remote, with some in-office presence required—at least twice a month) Languages Required: English Time Commitment: Full-time Contract: Permanent, with opportunity to work closely with US and global fundraising and operations teams Position Summary EMpower is seeking a highly organized, proactive Strategic Partnerships (Development) Assistant to support our US fundraising and operational activities. While this position is primarily remote, it is based in the NYC area to accommodate in-office and event presence at least twice per month. This role provides key administrative support to the US Strategic Partnerships (Development) team and broader global fundraising and communications functions. The ideal candidate is someone who finds genuine satisfaction in creating structure and ensuring projects reach a full and accurate completion. Reporting to the US Junior Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will work closely with the Finance and Development teams to drive the essential workflows that enable EMpower to deliver grants and strategic support to international grantee partners. Key Responsibilities Development Support (≈90%) Donor Management & Donation Processing • Process donations, including check deposits, Salesforce data entry, pledge follow-ups, deposit logs, and coding., • Liaise with Finance team for monthly reconciliation of Sage accounting and Salesforce database content., • Write and send invoices, donation acknowledgement letters, and other donor communications., • Manage donation platforms, chase outstanding donations, and review accounts receivable., • Pull and create regular development reports using Salesforce. Event Support • Support planning and execution of US fundraising events and campaigns (e.g., Annual Fundraising Dinner, Women’s events, Next Gen events) and global events as needed., • Track timelines, monitor progress across projects, and follow up with staff, vendors, and internal stakeholders., • Maintain and update guest lists, RSVPs, and other event logistics., • Support updating and printing management of basic print materials (signage, brochures, name tags, etc.)., • Conduct research and provide logistics support for events and visiting grantee partners (hotels, flights, performers, transportation)., • Help organize, review, and tag video footage Database Management • Maintain, clean up, and update contacts, opportunities, and administrative templates in Salesforce., • Update assigned website content areas and ensure master lists (Board, Leadership Council, Next Gen) are accurate. Donor Journey & Stewardship • Manage donation follow-up and acknowledgment processes., • Ensure donor experiences are consistent and positive, supporting long-term relationships. Operations Support (≈10%) Office & Administrative Management • Check mail regularly at the NYC office (at least twice a month)., • Manage office supplies, technology, and subscriptions., • Administer and track pledge deposits with the finance team., • Calendar and manage logistics for meetings, including creating agendas. Project & Operations Management • Project manage internal initiatives and individuals across the US Development team., • Manage operations processes to help keep staff on track with their projects., • Support coordination across multiple time zones and team members. Qualifications & Skills What You Bring to EMpower: • At least 1 year of experience in an office environment, ideally in philanthropy, nonprofit, or operations support., • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required., • Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills; able to manage multiple moving parts and deadlines., • Proven ability to manage deadlines and follow up proactively., • Clear, professional written and verbal communication; comfortable interacting with senior staff, donors, and colleagues., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), project management tools (Asana preferred), and content management systems., • Experience supporting events, development/fundraising teams, or nonprofit operations is a plus., • Ability to handle confidential, time-sensitive information and quantitative data (budgets, spreadsheets)., • Commitment to EMpower’s mission and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion., • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, primarily remote environment while collaborating effectively with a global team., • Willingness and ability to work in-person from the NYC office (close to Penn Station) at least twice per month., • Flexibility for occasional early morning calls to accommodate meetings across global time zones., • Ability to handle small shipments and light lifting (e.g., event supplies or boxes of materials) as part of office and event support. Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time position with a salary of USD 55,000 per annum. EMpower covers 100% of health, dental, and vision insurance premiums for all staff.
