Job DescriptionSkilled Laborer -- Steel Erection -- Up to $28/Hour Job Description This role supports the assembly, installation, and maintenance of metal structures and pre-engineered metal buildings as part of a steel erecting team. You will work with structural steel, metal framing, and exterior metal panels while operating construction equipment and tools in a safety-focused environment. Responsibilities • Erect steel frames and install wall and roof panels in accordance with engineered drawings and erection plans., • Read and interpret blueprints and erection plans to execute work accurately and efficiently., • Operate construction equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and cranes safely and in compliance with site procedures., • Install and secure structural components using bolts, welds, and other fasteners to ensure proper alignment and stability., • Assist with metal building assembly, including structural steel, metal framing, exterior trim, and metal panels., • Use hand and power tools to cut, fit, and assemble steel and metal components as required., • Perform heavy lifting and material handling tasks to support daily construction activities., • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including fall protection and equipment safety guidelines., • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site throughout the project., • Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors to meet project timelines and quality standards., • Minimum 2 years of prior experience erecting metal buildings or structural steel (preferred)., • Ability to work safely at heights on elevated structures and platforms., • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment as part of daily duties., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, and erection plans., • Experience with structural steel, metal framing, and metal building assembly., • Proficiency using hand and power tools commonly used in steel erection and construction., • Familiarity with exterior trim and metal panel installation., • Strong focus on safety and adherence to job site safety protocols., • Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites as needed., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred., • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and cranes in a construction environment., • Experience in construction trades involving structural steel, metal panels, or metal building systems., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors. Work Environment This position is based on active construction job sites, including large projects such as new school activity facilities and similar structures. Work is primarily outdoors and at heights, involving exposure to varying weather conditions and typical construction site environments. You will regularly work with structural steel, metal framing, exterior trim, and metal panels, using hand and power tools as well as equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and cranes. The schedule follows standard construction hours, with the possibility of overtime depending on project needs. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols, proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Attire should be appropriate for a construction site, including durable work clothing and safety gear suitable for steel erection activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
