Job Description This role offers an experienced phlebotomist or medical assistant the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a busy patient service center. You will perform blood draws, process specimens, and accurately document patient information while delivering excellent customer service. The position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, comfortable with computers, and able to manage a steady flow of patients throughout the day. Responsibilities • Greet patients upon arrival and complete all required check-in and data entry in the internal system., • Perform venipuncture and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, averaging 20–40 blood draws per day., • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures to ensure sample integrity., • Accurately label specimens and ensure all patient identifiers and test orders are correct., • Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the specific test orders., • Process specimens, including data entry and documentation, to ensure timely and accurate lab submission., • Update and maintain patient information and records in the system during and after each patient interaction., • Record maintenance data and support decontamination and cleanliness of work areas according to procedures., • Demonstrate proper phlebotomy techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles in accordance with training and protocols., • Handle a daily patient volume of approximately 30–50 patients in the patient service center., • Participate in training and take on additional tasks such as accessioning as assigned., • Provide professional, compassionate, and responsive customer service to a patient population that is primarily adult., • At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience, with 2 or more years preferred., • Proficiency in venipuncture and blood drawing, including experience with straight needles., • Demonstrated experience performing 20–40 blood draws per day or similar volume., • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients., • Ability to perform accurate data entry and update patient information in an internal computer system., • Experience with specimen collection, labeling, and processing according to established procedures., • Ability to use a centrifuge and handle specimens in accordance with test requirements., • Detail-oriented approach with strong accuracy in documentation and labeling., • Comfort working primarily with adult patients, including geriatrics., • Minimum education of high school diploma or GED., • More than 2 years of phlebotomy experience is highly desirable., • Experience working in a high-volume patient service center or similar outpatient environment., • Medical assistant (MA) experience in addition to phlebotomy skills., • Familiarity with CPT-related workflows and test order processing., • Experience working with geriatric patients and providing patient-centered care., • Bilingual communication skills are a plus and can enhance patient experience., • Ability to learn and perform accessioning and additional laboratory support tasks., • Strong computer literacy and comfort using internal systems for data entry and record updates. This position is based in a busy patient service center in South Richmond Hill, Queens, which typically sees approximately 110 patients per day. Phlebotomists will primarily be based at a Richmond Hill location but may occasionally provide coverage at nearby sites such as Kew Gardens, Middle Village, or another Richmond Hill facility. The role involves a consistent weekday schedule with a required Saturday shift and offers a 40-hour work week with potential for overtime. One schedule option includes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Another schedule option includes Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The environment is fast paced, with a patient volume of about 30–50 patients per phlebotomist each day, and involves extensive use of computers for data entry and record keeping. Phlebotomists regularly work with standard phlebotomy equipment such as straight needles, butterfly needles, and centrifuges, and follow established procedures for specimen handling, labeling, and storage. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Richmond Hill, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
