Job Description Position Title: Health & Wellness Manager FLSA: Exempt Location: Reports To: Center Director The Health & Wellness Manager position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24. Summary of Duties: The Health & Wellness Manager is responsible for the daily management and oversight of the center’s health and wellness program in compliance with Job Corps program requirements, corporate guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations. The Health and Wellness Director provides and oversees the delivery of health services, support, and education that will enhance the student employability and reinforce the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle and ensures that quality health services are delivered in a professional, student-focused manner. Key Areas of Responsibilities: • Promotes the Wellness Program initiatives and functions., • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no confidentiality and manipulation of student information/data., • Ensures proper documentation and accountability of student’s medical records., • Provides prevention and intervention services and short-term treatment that will enhance student participation in the program and employability., • Ensures staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities., • Provides documented training to staff. Cross-trains department employees., • Coordinates staff meetings., • Ensures that all staff participate in CMT., • Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)., • Ensures department is compliant with all safety standards and expectations to include proper workmen’s compensation reporting., • Ensures department is in compliance with all DOL, Corporate and Center requirements., • Promotes healthy choices that will have a positive impact on student’s physical and emotional well-being., • Provides students with information and skills that will allow them to make, • appropriate choices regarding health care needs and to demonstrate acceptable workplace behavior that will enhance their opportunity for employment., • Provides for cursory and complete medical examinations including all PRH requirements., • Provides for immunization program in accordance with CDC guidelines and the National Office of job Corps., • Provides daily walk-in services for routine care and establishes an appointment system for follow up care., • Provides patient assessment, triage, and treatment., • Provides emergency care including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency services on and off Center., • Assures 24 -hour emergency care with written arrangements for local community facilities to provide medical, dental, mental health and inpatient care., • Utilizes community resources for staff and student training on various issues related to health and wellness., • Coordinates a community referral system., • Coordinates the provision of TEAP program and services, including assessment, intervention, counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education exercises., • Coordinates health aspects of sports activities with the Recreation Department to assure compliance with PRH requirements., • Assures program compliance Tobacco Use Prevention Program., • Assures provision of a reproductive health program including, pregnancy prevention, family planning, sexuality, and sexual assault programs., • Assures availability of weight control counseling, monitoring and support through Weight Improvement Program., • Provides management for seropositive students assuring compliance with all PRH requirements., • Assures program compliance with Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA reasonable recommendations., • Assures health service staffing is in compliance with required staffing levels and qualifications., • Assures all health staff comply with professional standards of care subject to state laws and provisions of their licensure., • Provides for medication management including ordering, storage, administration, and record keeping for immunizations, prescription, stock medication, and controlled substances., • Provides medication management including ordering, storage, administration, and record keeping for immunizations, prescription, stock medication, and controlled substances., • Implements, executes and monitors orientation for health services., • Acts as resource and liaison for HEALS and Health Occupations Program., • Serves as a professional resource for the Center Director and Management Team on health-related issues., • Develops, facilitates and monitors quality assurance programs such as staff meetings, record audits, performance, data, and external reviews., • Coordinates with other Supervisors, Directors and Directors (SMD’s) to insure an effective interface with all center departments., • Assures completion and submission of all Health Service Reports., • Directs and monitors health services expenditures to comply with established contract and budget., • Oversees purchase, use, maintenance and disposal of supplies and equipment in Health Services Department., • Assures medical records are maintained and in compliance with PRH requirements and the requirements outlined in the Nurse Practice Act, • Provides on call services when emergency care is required., • Implements, directs and monitors infection control measures in Health Services and assists with monitoring center wide infection control., • Complies with OSHA requirements Monitors Student’s’ Behavior: Ensures proper conduct of students in all areas. Assists staff with behavior problems coordinating referrals to PBSO as required. Creates methods and programs to motivate constructive trainee behavior. Maintains awareness of the individual needs of various minority and cultural groups. Monitors accountability process. Develops Others: Establishes high level of mutual trust and support with others. Expresses positive expectations of others, even in difficult situations. Creates a learning atmosphere. Reassures and encourages performance improvement. Provides timely coaching. Career Management Team (CMT): May be asked to contribute to the success of students by participating in the CMT process. The CMT is responsible for students’ successful matriculation through the Job Corps program from CDP (Career Development Phase) through Career which includes receipt of the academic, CTT, employability, Career Success Standards, and social skills necessary to attain and maintain a viable post-Center placement. Teams are required to ensure that each graduate receives a placement within 9 months of separating from the program as well as complete a successful Q2 and Q4 survey. CMT will responsible to ensure that the following areas are functioning within each CMT: CTTRC, Projected Separations, High School Equivalency, CTT and CTT Credential, Literacy and Numeracy TABE, Evaluation of Student Progress, WBL, Career Transitions Readiness, CSS, Employability Skills, Contextual Learning, Career Transitions/Career. Workplace Standards: Maintains required certifications and/or licenses including a valid driver’s license and insurance when required by position. Does not engage in activities other than official business during working hours. Reports significant/major incidents or accidents. Cooperates in external/internal investigations as requested. Completes PRH, Corporate and Center training as required and demonstrates competencies accordingly. Complies with DOL, Corporate and Center guidelines. Credentials: Education and Experience Must possess Registered Nurse (RN) credential Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing Must maintain an active, unrestricted license to practice in state where center is located. Certifications, Licenses, Registration Valid state driver’s license Current State Professional Nurse License Current First Aid/CPR certification.
