Immediate opening for a CNC Programmer in East Syracuse, NY who possesses: • 4+ years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam, • Demonstrated experience with complex machining and tight tolerances, • Strong hands-on manufacturing problem-solving experience, • Ability to program and support horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers, • Ability to work onsite in a precision machining environment FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a CNC Programmer to prepare detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data for machined parts and sub-assemblies using horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers. This permanent, onsite role is responsible for creating CNC programs, establishing tooling and machine requirements, supporting setup and prove-out, troubleshooting programs, improving processes, and collaborating with machinists, engineering, and quality teams. The ideal candidate will have strong Mastercam programming experience, complex machining knowledge, tight tolerance experience, and the ability to solve manufacturing problems in a precision machining environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for: • Creating medium to high complexity CNC programs using 3+ axis CAM software, • Programming complex parts from scratch using Mastercam, • Preparing detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data for machined parts and sub-assemblies, • Supporting horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers, • Determining manufacturing procedures and operation sequencing, • Establishing tooling, gauging, and machine requirements to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies, • Working primarily with aluminum castings and some aluminum billet machining, • Producing robust offline CNC programs that simulate accurately at the PC, • Maximizing software capabilities to help avoid collisions and excess time at the work center, • Providing CAM support and downloading programs to CNC controls, • Supporting initial setup and prove-out of programs on the shop floor, • Obtaining first piece approval and turning over production to operators, • Diagnosing, analyzing, and troubleshooting CNC programs, • Reviewing engineering drawings and specifications for compatibility with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities, • Recommending drawing, process, or design changes to improve productivity, • Reprocessing or modifying existing programs for increased efficiency and productivity, • Supporting studies and recommendations for improved equipment, process methods, materials, and designs, • Working with Quality to create robust CMM and manual inspection processes, • Completing and maintaining required reports and records, including CNC tooling lists, • Creating work instructions and setup instructions for machinists, • Checking completed programs and program changes by running simulations before posting code, • Ensuring correct speeds and feeds based on manufacturer cut data, • Collaborating with machinists, engineering, quality, and production teams, • Supporting process improvements related to tooling, cycle times, part quality, and machining efficiency, • Following ISO quality system requirements, • Following all safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards, • Maintaining regular on-time attendance, • Maintaining a positive and professional approach with internal and external contacts, • Applying classroom and on-the-job training in a quality-oriented manner, • Performing other tasks as required The selected candidate will also possess: • AAS in Mechanical Technologies or equivalent work experience preferred, • 4+ years of CNC programming experience preferred, • Mastercam programming experience required, • Demonstrated ability to program and machine complex geometries required, • Superior CNC computer programming skills required, • Experience with medium to high complexity CNC programming required, • 3+ axis CAM software experience required, • Experience with horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers preferred, • Experience programming complex parts from scratch required, • Experience with prototype work and low-volume production preferred, • Experience with tight tolerances required, • Experience with aluminum castings or aluminum billet machining preferred, • Strong hands-on manufacturing problem-solving experience required, • Ability to troubleshoot and prove out programs on the shop floor required, • Ability to read blueprints required, • Excellent reading comprehension skills required, • Strong math skills, including algebra, trigonometry, and physics, preferred, • Strong problem-solving skills required, • Excellent time management skills required, • Strong organizational and planning skills required, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, • High attention to detail required, • Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision required, • Knowledge of safety measures related to job assignments required, • Ability to work onsite in East Syracuse, NY, • Ability to support a full-time, permanent opportunity, • Must be a U.S. Person due to ITAR requirements Physical Requirements: • Ability to walk and sit at a desk for prolonged periods throughout the workday, • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed, • Ability to use hands and fingers for computer programming, CAM software, documentation, CNC controls, setup support, tooling information, and standard manufacturing tasks, • Ability to review blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, CNC programs, simulations, tooling lists, setup instructions, inspection requirements, and computer screens for extended periods, • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office, programming, quality, and machine shop areas as needed, • Ability to work around CNC machining centers, shop floor activity, tooling, fixtures, gauges, machined parts, aluminum materials, and related manufacturing equipment, • Ability to support setup, prove-out, first piece approval, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities on the shop floor as needed, • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety, ISO, quality, and housekeeping procedures, • Ability to maintain accuracy, focus, and attention to detail
