Job DescriptionDescription: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced SANY Literacy Curriculum Coordinator for grades K-12 to enhance and optimize our established literacy and language arts programs across all SANY schools. This vital role involves refining our existing literacy curriculum to ensure it continues to meet and exceed district and state standards, promoting an environment where both students and teachers strive for excellence in literacy education. Job Goals: The SANY Literacy Curriculum Coordinator will continue to advance, articulate, implement, and assess our comprehensive literacy program that is research-based and meets the diverse needs of our students across the entire district. Position Responsibilities: • Curriculum and Instruction: Serve as the SANY leader on curriculum and instruction in literacy across all K-12 grade levels. Maintain and enhance the alignment of the literacy curriculum with state standards. Manage, coordinate, and monitor instructional programs while ensuring timely updates to the curriculum., • Assessment and Intervention: Assess the performance and impact of existing literacy programs on student achievement. Lead data meetings to scrutinize literacy performance data and develop and implement strategic intervention programs as required., • Staff Development: Lead SANY-wide staff development initiatives focused on literacy education. Design and conduct professional development sessions, workshops, and training for literacy educators throughout the district., • Demonstrate exemplary instructional leadership by modeling effective literacy teaching strategies and actively participating in curriculum refinement., • Stay abreast of the latest trends and research in literacy education through ongoing professional development., • Facilitate the development and implementation of SANY-wide school improvement plans with a focus on literacy objectives., • Uphold professional standards at all times, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the SANY Employee Handbook., • Foster a positive and constructive atmosphere in all school interactions., • Adhere to the established chain of command for all academic and interpersonal matters., • Master’s degree in Literacy, Reading Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field., • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in ELA or literacy-focused roles (K–12)., • Demonstrated success in literacy curriculum development and reading intervention design., • Experience in leading district-wide professional development for literacy educators., • Strong understanding of NYS English Language Arts Standards, Foundational Literacy Skills, and adolescent literacy development., • Expertise in research-based literacy practices, including phonics, comprehension strategies, writing instruction, and reading across the curriculum., • Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and intervention models for struggling readers., • Commitment to fostering a district-wide culture of reading, writing, and communication excellence., • Strong organizational and leadership skills to coordinate literacy programming across multiple sites., • Passion for equity and ensuring all students achieve literacy proficiency., • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to schools within a 2-hour range, including operation of district vehicles.
