Job Description Manager of Behavioral Health Services – Therapeutic Childcare At Father Joe’s Villages, behavioral health services are a critical part of supporting children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Our Therapeutic Childcare program provides trauma-informed care, early intervention, and family-centered support that helps children heal, grow, and thrive. This role directly supports our mission to end homelessness and strengthen the San Diego community by ensuring high-quality, integrated behavioral health services for the families we serve. The Role The Manager of Behavioral Health Services – Therapeutic Childcare is a licensed clinician and people leader who provides therapy services while supervising Associate Therapists and Clinical Interns. This role helps ensure that services are trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with best practices in early childhood and family therapy. You will collaborate closely with Therapeutic Childcare leadership and the Village Health Center (a Federally Qualified Health Center) to provide integrated, whole-person care. This position combines clinical services, staff supervision, program collaboration, and training. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Supervision • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to Associate Therapists and Clinical Interns, • Recruit, screen, and support clinical interns in partnership with universities and training programs, • Assign caseloads, support staff development, and conduct performance evaluations, • Maintain a clinical caseload that includes individual therapy and therapeutic groups, • Facilitate or co-facilitate therapy sessions and milieu-based therapeutic activities, • Oversee referrals and help ensure equitable caseload distribution among clinicians, • Conduct behavioral health trainings for Therapeutic Childcare staff, Health Center teams, and community partners, • Participate in outreach activities to increase referrals and engagement, • Support a transdisciplinary approach to care across programs and services, • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record system, • Participate in chart reviews, audits, and quality improvement initiatives, • Maintain clinical credentialing and privileging requirements, • Complete required trainings, continuing education, and risk management activities, • Follow legal, ethical, and confidentiality standards for behavioral health practice, • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field, • Active California clinical license in good standing (such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist), • At least seven (7) years of clinical experience providing therapy to children, youth, and families, • At least three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience, including training, coaching, or performance management, • Experience using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices, • Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrated care environments, • Bilingual in English and Spanish, • Experience in early childhood programs, school-based services, community health, or family-serving organizations, • Experience supervising interns or associate-level clinician, • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or similar integrated care setting Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with standard office hours. Occasional flexibility may be required for offsite meetings or trainings. Compensation and Benefits Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $86,674 - $108,326 per year.
